Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund was established by the Central Secretariat of the Youth Union on March 5, 1999, at the initiative of the Young Pioneer Newspaper. The Fund is chaired by former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong My Hoa. The purpose of Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund is to support poor ethnic minority students who are good at studying and striving to improve their skills across the country. After 24 years of establishment and development, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has provided tens of thousands of scholarships to students. At the same time, it has become a trusted friend of the young generation in ethnic minority areas.

In An Giang , Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has been present since the 2010-2011 school year. Through many programs and projects, such as: "Nurturing the Future" project; "Wings of Dreams" project; "Supporting Students" project; "Charity Arms" program; "Regular Scholarship" program... Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has supported hundreds of scholarships for An Giang students.
Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang Nguyen Binh Thu said that for more than 10 years accompanying the education sector of An Giang, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has helped many generations of ethnic minority students with difficult circumstances to achieve their dreams. Thanks to this support, many students have overcome difficulties and material deprivation to continue their education. Many students after graduating from high school, passing the university entrance exam and graduating from school have had stable jobs.
In the 2022-2023 school year, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund has come to Khmer ethnic minority students in Tinh Bien Town. There are 50 scholarships awarded, each worth 1 million VND and 1 gift, including: 1 backpack, 20 notebooks and 1 comic book by author Isabelle Muller.
On this occasion, the organizers also awarded the “Charity Arms” scholarship to 3 students who were severely affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in Thoai Son district, An Phu district and Long Xuyen city . Each scholarship is worth 6 million VND and gifts, including: 1 backpack, 20 notebooks and 1 comic book by author Isabelle Muller.
As a student receiving the Vu A Dinh scholarship, Neang Chanh Tria (class 7A4, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School) said that she was born into an incomplete family. Her parents divorced when she was just born, and her mother had to struggle to raise two school-age children alone, while her grandmother was already old.
Due to economic difficulties, Neang Chanh Tria’s mother had to work as a factory worker to support the family. Sometimes, Neang Chanh Tria wanted to give up her dream of going to school to help her mother. However, with the encouragement of her teachers, she realized that only through education could she fulfill her dreams and ambitions, and help her family escape poverty.
Neang Chanh Tria has been constantly striving and trying to study to become an excellent student for many years. In particular, receiving the Vu A Dinh scholarship, she was extremely moved. “On behalf of all the students here, I would like to thank the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will help my family in particular and poor students in general to reduce difficulties in their studies as well as in their daily lives. At the same time, it will encourage and motivate us to be more confident in studying and realizing our dreams and ambitions” - Neang Chanh Tria confided.
In the 2022-2023 school year, An Giang province has 719 schools at all levels, with more than 412,000 students, including 24,932 ethnic minority students. In recent times, in addition to educational activities according to the common tasks of the whole sector, education and care for ethnic minority children have also been implemented synchronously, from organizing teaching and learning to implementing support policies and regimes. Thereby, helping children have conditions to study, quickly absorb knowledge, contributing to preserving traditions and national cultural identity.
