Hoang Nguyen Thanh accompanies the Marathon "Strong Vietnam Vung Tau 2024"

On May 31, the "Strong Vietnam Vung Tau 2024" Marathon organized by Sen Vang Company in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation and the People's Committee of Vung Tau City was announced, under the direction of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the professional board of the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Athlete Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Miss Luong Thuy Linh are ambassadors of the tournament.

Announcing the "Strong Vietnam Vung Tau 2024" Race

The "Strong Vietnam Vung Tau 2024" race takes place over 3 days, from September 20 to 22, with a scale of over 10,000 people and many different distances.

Ms. Pham Kim Dung, General Director of Sen Vang Company, said that since the announcement of the race, the organizing committee has received a lot of attention. “As a rookie in the marathon race, we are honored to receive the support of partners, brands, runners, especially the support of the leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. We are committed that Strong Vietnam will not only stop at being a domestic race but will develop further,” said Ms. Dung.

Director Hoang Nhat Nam, Head of the Strong Vietnam Organizing Committee, said that the race has up to 20 beauty queens and runners participating as runners. In addition, the race also has the participation of international guests, including 80 contestants of Mr. World 2024.

At the press conference, Mr. Huynh Duc Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said that in 2024, the province will organize about 100 cultural and sports programs. For running alone, the Department of Culture and Sports will coordinate with businesses and the General Department of Physical Training and Sports to organize 10 large and small tournaments. Through Strong Vietnam this time, the province hopes to promote tourism, potential images, and strengths of the people here.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation, commented that the Strong Vietnam race has a sustainable plan. The difference of the race is that in addition to runners, the route has the appearance of beauty queens and runners-up, accompanied by cultural activities.

In addition, a representative of the Vietnam Athletics Federation said that the race attracted more than 50,000 people to Vung Tau City.

Regarding the choice of Vung Tau as the venue, Mr. Hoang Nhat Nam, Head of the Organizing Committee of the race, said that the biggest reason was the convenience of travel. “Vung Tau has a beautiful route, and is also a friendly land, where we successfully organized the Miss Vietnam 2020 contest. In addition, previous cultural activities organized by Sen Vang in Vung Tau have received enthusiastic support from leaders and people,” said Mr. Nam.

Organizing a race with more than 10,000 runners, safety, security and health issues are the top concerns of participants. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, affirmed that the organizing committee ensures all stages are well taken care of, creating a safe and beneficial playground for runners.

“Regarding security, we have specific routes, checkpoints, and flows for athletes. We ensure security before, during, and after the race. We ensure that no visitors or locals get lost in the athletes’ running area. The organizing committee also offers the best medical plan, with an ambulance for every 1,000 athletes. Depending on the conditions, we arrange 10-15 medical stations. We have fully equipped ventilators, cardiac massage machines, mechanical impact machines, oxygen supplies, and blood pressure monitors,” said Mr. Hinh.

In addition to health issues, audiences are concerned about the possibility of contestants cheating, which affects the reputation of the race. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hinh said that the organizing committee has a plan and work to check for cheating and strictly handle the use of fake BIBs (registration numbers) during the race.

Luong Thuy Linh and Hoang Nguyen Thanh are the two ambassadors of the program.

“Official races all have departments and processes for checking BIBs. During the race, referees will detect people using fake BIBs. When fraud is detected, we report it to the organizing committee and use our expertise to resolve the dishonesty,” said a representative of the organizing committee.

Mr. Trung Hinh said that the Vietnam Athletics Federation has sanctions against athletes using fake BIBs. “When we detect cheating, we will send the cheater’s information to other tournaments and ban them from participating. The Athletics Federation has agreed with the head of the Strong Vietnam organizing committee to apply BIB checking machines when the contestants cross the finish line,” he affirmed.
