(Dan Tri) - The amount of water flowing into Tri An Hydropower Reservoir has increased, so Tri An Hydropower Company has decided to open the fourth floodgate, increasing the total water flow to the downstream of Dong Nai River to 1,400-1,490m3/s.
On September 25, Mr. Vo Tan Nhan, Director of Tri An Hydropower Company (Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai), said that the unit had just continued to increase the discharge of water through the spillway to regulate the reservoir at 2:00 p.m. the same day. Accordingly, Tri An Hydropower Reservoir opened a fourth water discharge gate with a total flow of 640m3/s. In addition, the water flow through the power turbine was from 800 to 850m3/s, increasing the total water flow to the downstream of Dong Nai River to 1,440-1,490m3/s. According to Tri An Hydropower Company, at 8:00 a.m. the same day, the water level of Tri An Lake reached 60.09 m, the water level downstream at the plant reached 5.7 m. The water flow through the spillway reached 480 m3/s and the flow through the power turbine reached 830 m3/s. The water flow to the lake is currently over 1,400 m3/s. It is expected that in the next 1-2 days, the water flow to the lake will remain over 1,300 m3/s. To ensure flood prevention capacity, combined with the low water level downstream of the river at Bien Hoa hydrological station (downstream of Dong Nai River), below 1.5 m, Tri An Hydropower Company will increase the amount of water released to regulate the reservoir. Dong Nai Province's Hydrometeorological Station warned that flooding may occur in the upper reaches of Dong Nai River and La Nga River, from the upper reaches to Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts. In addition, it is necessary to guard against the possibility of heavy rain combined with floods causing flooding, landslides on river banks, streams, low-lying areas in the two districts of Tan Phu, Dinh Quan and neighboring areas. Mr. Vo Tan Nhan said that depending on the weather and water levels downstream of the Dong Nai River, the company may change the flow of water discharged through the spillway. On the same morning, the company informed the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue at all levels, and relevant local authorities. Thereby, it directed, coordinated and notified people in the downstream area of the reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to avoid possible damage. Tri An Hydroelectric Reservoir is 323km2 wide, considered the largest hydroelectric reservoir in the South located on the Dong Nai River basin. In addition to the purpose of producing electricity for the national grid, the project also ensures domestic water, agriculture, saltwater intrusion and flood control... for the downstream area of the Dong Nai River system.
