U.23 Vietnam coach 'wants to forget the match', dissatisfied with a player

Before the match, U.23 Vietnam was rated higher than its opponent U.23 Philippines. In fact, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team entered the match proactively, controlled the ball well and played quite sharply. U.23 Vietnam had a smooth start when they took the lead in the 18th minute, with a beautiful combination and finish by striker Nguyen Huu Tuan.

However, in the remaining 70 minutes of the match, U.23 Vietnam played quite deadlocked and could not score any more goals despite controlling the game. U.23 Vietnam won 1-0 against U.23 Philippines and won a ticket to the semi-finals as the first team in Group C. But coach Hoang Anh Tuan was still not satisfied with his team. "I want to forget this match and look forward to the semi-finals. In this match, U.23 Vietnam had 5 18-year-old players and they were not well organized. However, I still want to give them a chance. In the second half, there were clashes between players, I was also not satisfied with this," the coach from Khanh Hoa expressed.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan is not satisfied with the match of U.23 Vietnam against the Philippines.

In response to a reporter's question about the performance of some individuals, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan shared: "About Long Vu, I am satisfied. He is only 17 years old, playing like that is good enough. Vu is still very young. I told the players that I will give them a chance and if anyone can take advantage of it, they will have a future. As for goalkeeper Van Chuan, he is the third goalkeeper of Hanoi, because he has not played much, he can make mistakes now. I think Chuan will gradually get better and perform well in the upcoming matches."

In particular, coach Hoang Anh Tuan paid special attention to Nguyen Van Truong. After entering the field, this midfielder could not keep a cool head in the face of malicious tackles from opposing players. "With Nguyen Van Truong, I told the referee that I wanted to replace him immediately. I was not satisfied, because football is playing football, not fighting," Mr. Tuan emphasized.

"U.23 Malaysia is a strong team. We will analyze the opponent, but the most important thing is how my players will perform. U.23 Vietnam needs to try more than 100% of their ability to win the semi-final and advance to the final," coach Hoang Anh Tuan commented on U.23 Vietnam's semi-final opponent.

On the other hand, coach Christopher Pedimonte said: "The positive thing is that we played hard until the last minute. This lesson will help the players develop in the future. In this tournament, U.23 Philippines brought many young players, including 6 U.19 players. We want them to gain experience and learn more."

Regarding the opponent U.23 Vietnam, the head coach of U.23 Philippines commented: "Vietnam made many changes compared to the first match. We tried to stop Vietnam but the minutes of unfocused play led to the loss and we could not find the equalizer. U.23 Vietnam is a strong team and has a great chance to advance to the final match of the 2023 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament".

In the same match, U.23 Malaysia also won against U.23 Timor Leste with a score of 3-1 and advanced to the semi-finals as the first team in Group B.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan’s team only has 1 day to rest, recover and prepare for the match against U.23 Malaysia. This match will take place at 4pm on August 24.
