In a tribute post by assistant Nova Arianto, the Korean coach wrote: "Thank you very much. I couldn't go with you to the end. Please take good care of the players and make sure they can attend the World Cup. See you again, thank you for everything."
Nova Arianto is one of the local assistants close to Coach Shin. He was one of the first people to share a status line of gratitude to the Korean strategist, after the announcement of the termination of the contract by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI).
Coach Shin Tae-yong speaks out for the first time after being fired.
On January 7, PSSI President Erick Thohir shared on Bola: "This decision (to fire coach Shin) was made for nothing other than the benefit of the national team. We need a leader who can execute better, come up with strategies that are agreed upon by the players, communicate better and coach better."
Indonesian media commented that the statement of the head of PSSI showed that coach Shin Tae-yong had problems controlling the team's dressing room, when he could not make the stars from Europe "convinced." The Korean strategist was also assessed as having "poor communication" with players trained abroad.
Kompas revealed that many Indonesian players close to coach Shin felt "confused" because they did not understand why PSSI made such a quick decision. Asnawi and Pratama Arhan shared regretful statuses and thanked the Korean coach for his contributions.
Patrick Kluivert, a former Dutch striker, will be the man to take the hot seat of the Indonesian national team. Kluivert was one of the best strikers in Europe in the late 1990s, but his coaching career has not been very impressive.
According to Telegraaf, Kluivert will bring two assistants from his countrymen, Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, to Indonesia. Veteran coach Louis van Gaal is also expected to take the position of Technical Director of the Indonesian teams.
