'Coach NTD committed a violation by receiving money from athlete Pham Nhu Phuong'

The explanation signed by the Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Dang Ha Viet has two parts, the first part talks about why athlete Pham Nhu Phuong was not called up to the national team. The document clearly states: "Representatives of the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, the Department of Physical Education and the national team coaches attending the meeting, clearly reported and committed that the national team coaching board, the Hanoi National Sports Training Center as well as the Department of Physical Education and Physical Training of the Department of Sports and Physical Training do not have the policy of collecting medal bonus money or any money for the athlete's fund".

The Department of Sports and Physical Training said: " The NTD coach, who was involved in the accusation of collecting bonuses, explained that the money collected into the fund was from athletes of the Hanoi unit. At the meeting of the High Performance Sports Department I of the Department of Sports and Physical Training with the athletes of the national gymnastics team on January 16, 2023, all athletes confirmed that no coach had ever collected money from athletes."

The Department of Sports and Physical Training continued: "The inspection results show that: The coaching board of the national gymnastics team was not involved in dividing the percentage of bonuses of the national gymnastics team's athletes. Coach NTD committed a violation by receiving money from athlete Pham Nhu Phuong.

The Department of Sports and Physical Training proposes to handle and suspend NTD coach training to verify and clarify the content related to the athletes. After verifying the coach's income, the Department of Sports and Physical Training will report in detail and continue to propose a handling plan."
