On the afternoon of April 15, the International Trauma Training Center (ITLS) under Military Hospital 175 (Ministry of National Defense) was officially launched. This is the first international trauma training center in Vietnam and the fifth center in Southeast Asia. Major General Tran Quoc Viet, Director of Military Hospital 175, said that according to the mandatory requirements of the United Nations, medical staff participating in UN peacekeeping operations must have a certificate in international trauma first aid, recognized by the United Nations and internationally. Through research on the international standard trauma emergency center model that has been deployed in a number of Southeast Asian countries and the region, since the beginning of 2022, the Department of Peacekeeping (Ministry of National Defense) has coordinated with US partners to organize international trauma emergency training courses and emergency training for officers and staff of Military Hospital 175. The program consists of 5 phases to implement the training process, assess the capacity and conditions to certify Military Hospital 175 as an international standard trauma emergency training center. In addition, experts from the United States also participate in international specialized training on peacekeeping, helping Vietnam proactively train its staff to meet the requirements for forces participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations. After 15 months of training, as of January 2024, with the support of US experts, Military Hospital 175 has organized 5 training courses with 110 trainees. Among them, there are 34 officers from Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5, 47 medical staff of Military Hospital 175 and 29 trainees from other units in the army. At the launching ceremony, representatives of the Ministry of National Defense and partners from the United States presented certificates, announced the decision to establish the first International Trauma Training Center in Vietnam for Military Hospital 175 and decided to complete the concurrent personnel including executive director, medical director, coordinator, international standard ILTS instructors...
