Investment efficiency changes the face of ethnic minority areas in My Duc district

An Phu commune's infrastructure is increasingly invested in synchronously, creating convenience for travel and trade of ethnic minorities.

The road to An Phu is not far

Located on the border of Hoa Binh and Ha Nam provinces, An Phu commune has 13 villages with a total population of more than 10,000 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 57%, mainly Muong ethnic group. Many years ago, traveling for ethnic minorities here was very difficult due to the remote location, the transportation system was mainly dirt roads.

Since the merger with the capital, especially in the last 5 years, with the great investment of Hanoi City, the traffic infrastructure to An Phu commune has been upgraded more and more synchronously. A series of roads built from the capital of Plan No. 253/KH-UBND of Hanoi People's Committee have been completed and put into use.

These include the main road to Thanh Ha village conversion area; the main road to Nam Hung village conversion area; rural traffic road from Dong Chiem village to inter-commune road; the main road from An Phu commune People's Committee to National Highway 21A...

“The traffic system has been upgraded and upgraded more and more synchronously, making travel and trade more convenient for people, of whom nearly 60% are ethnic minorities. The economic life of the people has also improved…” - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, a prestigious person in An Phu commune shared.

According to Chairman of An Phu Commune People's Committee Bui Van Chuyen, implementing Plan No. 253/KH-UBND of Hanoi People's Committee, from 2021 to present, about 250 billion VND has been supported by Hanoi People's Committee for the locality to implement 16 projects to develop socio-economic infrastructure, especially the traffic system and internal irrigation.

“Previously, implementing Plan No. 138/KH-UBND of Hanoi People's Committee, An Phu commune was also supported to invest in building 6 socio-economic infrastructure development projects, with a total budget of 56 billion VND. Up to now, the projects are all promoting positive effects to serve the people…” - Mr. Bui Van Chuyen added.

The lives of ethnic minorities in An Phu commune (My Duc district) have changed positively over the past 5 years.

Changes in socio-economics

Infrastructure investment has created favorable conditions to promote socio-economic development in An Phu commune. In the period of 2019 - 2024, the average annual economic growth of this locality is about 6%.

Ethnic minorities have actively shifted the structure of crops and livestock. Promoting new economic models such as lotus cultivation combined with aquaculture. Thanks to that, the average income per capita of An Phu commune has now reached about 56 million VND/year; the poverty rate is decreasing, currently 0.8%. An Phu commune has also met the new rural standards in 2021.

Vice Chairman of My Duc District People's Committee Dang Van Canh assessed that the development results of An Phu commune in the past 5 years (2019 - 2024) were achieved thanks to the great investment in resources of Hanoi. Based on the city's resources, the locality has directed the implementation of focused and key investments, prioritizing people's projects, serving socio-economic development. The projects were constructed to ensure progress and quality.

Currently, the People's Committee of My Duc district is directing An Phu commune to maintain good management, operation, maintenance and repair of works to ensure efficiency after investment. At the same time, continue to research and review to submit to the Hanoi People's Committee for consideration and supplement investment resources to synchronously upgrade socio-economic infrastructure.

According to Mr. Dang Van Canh, along with continuing to mobilize resources to upgrade infrastructure, in the coming years, My Duc district will focus on effectively exploiting the potential and advantages of the ethnic minority region to promote economic development. The focus is on eco-tourism, combining aquaculture and growing lotus and medicinal plants, to increase income, reduce poverty quickly and sustainably for ethnic minorities.
