The United States is considering providing Ukraine with medium-range missiles for its new fleet of F-16 fighters as part of a $375 million military aid package expected to be announced on September 23.
The JSOW missile, currently used by the US Air Force and Navy and some allies, can strike targets at a distance of more than 100 km.
A range of more than 100 km will allow pilots to stay away from Russian front lines and air defense systems, giving Kiev a new way to attack enemy front-line defense systems and arsenals, making it difficult for Russian forces to operate.
