The large fields are opening a new path for agriculture in Can Loc district (Ha Tinh). The joyful song of spring is being sung from the harmony between the Party's will and the people's heart.

The "revolution" in the fields

After days of cold drizzle, the fields of Hop Son village, Thanh Loc commune, have once again blossomed with new vitality. After the third land conversion, the small, fragmented plots and terraces at the foot of Cai mountain have had their borders and fields broken down. The manpower and machinery in the days of hard work digging ditches, building roads, leveling the ground... have created large, flat, immense fields, promising a bountiful harvest.

According to the 2023 plan, Hop Son village will convert land for the third time with an area of 21 hectares in 3 adjacent fields. Through propaganda, mobilization, promoting democratic regulations, creating unity from the Party Committee and Party cells, through village meetings to collect opinions, the major policies of the District Party Committee have been agreed upon and enthusiastically responded by the people.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Lieu (Hop Son village) shared: “After the third land conversion, this spring crop of 2024, the fields have been unified, facilitating the application of mechanization in production, saving time and effort for the people. Also following the policy of the superiors, this year, we carry out 3 common production: "Field, season, variety", which are the factors for people to hope and believe in successful crops".

As one of the localities carrying out land conversion on a commune-wide scale, in 2023, Son Loc will implement it on an area of over 367 hectares. “With the goal of ensuring that 90% of households have a production area, the commune must convert 3,635 small plots into 1,850 large plots. The workload is large, but the determination of the local government and the people's belief in bumper harvests are favorable conditions for the commune to carry out the "great revolution" in the fields," said Mr. Than Van Vy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Loc commune.

This spring, Can Loc has an additional 2,500 hectares of rice fields planned in contiguous areas and plots.

After 3 years of implementation, up to now, Resolution No. 01-NQ/HU of the Standing Committee of Can Loc District Party Committee on implementing the Project of land concentration and forming large-scale production areas has come into life. The policy of land accumulation has been realized with the participation of the entire political system, with the catalyst from policies and the enthusiastic response of people in 18 communes and towns. Many fields have gathered dozens of hectares to hundreds of hectares. During the crop seasons, instead of struggling back and forth, farmers have been liberated from labor thanks to machines. And this spring, Can Loc fields have more than 2,500 hectares planned in contiguous areas and plots.

From the correct policy of the District Party Committee, the “great revolution” in Can Loc fields has created trust and consensus among the people. This is also the “key” for the rice district to open up a sustainable development direction through clean agricultural production processes with joint ventures and associations to create a breakthrough.

Large fields stretching as far as the eye can see have become an important premise for businesses, cooperatives, and cooperative groups to have a basis to invest in commodity agricultural production, apply scientific and technological advances, high technology associated with digital transformation, improve land use efficiency, increase productivity, quality and competitiveness of commodity agricultural products.

Since then, the desire to get rich on the fields of their homeland has been kindled and nurtured in the thoughts and ideas of farmers who love their fields. Then, through practical actions, they have boldly tested themselves by applying VietGAP and organic production processes, building the OCOP rice brand... Ha Vang Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative (Vuong Loc commune) is one of them.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung - Party Cell Secretary, Director of the Cooperative shared: “Immediately after accumulating land, in the winter crop of 2021, we started to produce rice according to the VietGAP process on large fields. After 1 year of implementation, the Cooperative has achieved VietGAP certification. That result is the premise for us to gradually realize the dream of building an OCOP rice brand. After 3 seasons of waiting and looking forward, great joy came to the villagers when in May 2023, the Cooperative's rice products were recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. The products were well received by the market, the high selling price (25,000 VND/kg) has strengthened the farmers' confidence in the great policy".

Ha Vang Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative (Vuong Loc) successfully built the OCOP rice brand.

After the success of Ha Vang Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative, Khanh Vinh Yen commune has cooperated with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to build an organic rice production model... This is also a new way of farming to gradually build and enhance the brand of Can Loc rice products.

Assessing the effectiveness of Resolution No. 01-NQ/HU after 3 years of implementation, Mr. Dang Tran Phong - Chairman of the District People's Committee affirmed: "The agricultural picture in the homeland has changed, the production thinking of the people has been renewed. In the coming time, the district will direct localities to continue to implement land accumulation associated with the construction of concentrated production fields, strengthen joint ventures and associations to create sustainable output for agricultural products".
