Developing green agriculture combined with tourism in Thai Nguyen is not only a trend but also an urgent requirement in the current context. By applying clean agricultural production standards such as VietGAP, organic and GlobalGAP, Thai Nguyen province is gradually affirming its position in the safe agricultural product market, while creating opportunities to develop tourism associated with agriculture.
Change technology to create high quality products
Green farming not only brings environmental benefits but also promotes local economic development in many different ways.
Consumers are increasingly concerned about health and food safety. The use of organic fertilizers and biological pesticides not only helps plants grow healthily but also provides safer products for consumers.
Mr. Vu Duc Hao, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thai Nguyen province, said: To develop green agriculture, the main source of fertilizer for crops is organic fertilizer, composted from agricultural by-products. The most effective way of green and clean production is that the investment capital is lower but the quality and price of the products are more competitive.
However, it is not easy for farmers to catch up with clean production and move towards green agriculture. Therefore, Thai Nguyen has always made efforts to propagate, mobilize and guide people. In particular, Thai Nguyen has had many mechanisms and policies to support and implement green and clean agricultural production models.
For example, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, with the goal of developing green, efficient, and sustainable agriculture, has implemented organic tea production models according to Vietnamese standards on a scale of 40 hectares in the 2023-2024 period. The model is highly appreciated because it not only helps people have environmentally friendly agricultural production methods but also contributes to protecting the health of producers and consumers.
Developing Green Agriculture for Tourism in Thai Nguyen is a long-term strategy for sustainable development.
Or the implementation of the tea production model according to the IPHM method (plant health protection) of the Saemaul Phu Nam Agricultural - Trade - Tourism Cooperative, Phu Do Commune (Phu Luong) also contributed to changing the thinking and tea production methods of the people. Instead of using inorganic fertilizers and pesticides that are harmful to the environment and human health, IPHM guides people to clean and safe production by bringing organic fertilizers and biological pesticides to the tea hills.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Director of Saemaul Phu Nam Cooperative, tea production using this method brings many benefits as it not only helps improve the soil and reduce input costs, but also significantly increases productivity, product quality and economic efficiency.
In addition, the application of modern production processes such as VietGAP or GlobalGAP also creates favorable conditions for farmers to access demanding markets. Products that meet standards will easily dominate the domestic and export markets, thereby contributing to economic growth.

Not only that, green agriculture also opens up opportunities for businesses to invest in the high-tech agricultural sector. The application of technology in agricultural production not only helps reduce costs but also increases labor productivity. Technology provides effective solutions for crop care, land management and natural resource protection.
Reality shows that, after many efforts, green agriculture has begun to spread to farming households in the whole province of Thai Nguyen. Up to now, most of the concentrated tea production area in Thai Nguyen has applied GAP, organic and equivalent standards (about 17,800 hectares). Of which, over 5,300 hectares have been certified to meet VietGAP standards, 80 hectares have been certified to meet organic standards. Thanks to that, not only farmers but also businesses have received benefits from these advances. Investing in green agriculture contributes to increasing product value and creating many new jobs, stimulating local economic development.
It can be affirmed that with many efforts, Thai Nguyen has made quite effective "transformations" in developing green agriculture. Mr. Nguyen Ta, Head of the Provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, said: "Reality proves that, along with changing people's thinking and having effective support policies, the synchronous application of science and technology in production has contributed to creating a clean production. This is also the solution for the development of green, safe and sustainable agriculture in Thai Nguyen in the future."
Green agriculture combined with tourism
One of the primary goals of green agriculture is to protect the environment. Environmentally friendly production methods help reduce soil, water and air pollution. By promoting organic production, farmers can create a clean and safe living environment for the community.
Maintaining biodiversity is also important in green farming. Sustainable farming techniques such as intercropping, crop rotation and the use of bio-products all play an important role in preserving natural ecosystems.
Green agricultural development is not only limited to agricultural production but also extends to agricultural tourism models.
Agriculture is not only the foundation of the economy but also a cultural symbol of the local community.
Thai Nguyen province has begun implementing an experiential tourism model at agricultural farms. Visitors can directly participate in the production process, from harvesting fruit to participating in plant care activities.
This model not only creates additional income for farmers but also helps promote the image of clean agricultural products of Thai Nguyen to tourists. Experiential tourism also creates opportunities for tourists to learn more about the culture and customs of local people, thereby creating memorable experiences.
However, according to tourism experts, agricultural festivals are an important part of green agriculture. Thai Nguyen can organize festivals to honor clean agricultural products, while attracting the attention of tourists and investors.
“These festivals not only introduce agricultural products but also have unique cultural and artistic activities. This will create opportunities for farmers to exchange, learn from each other and access advanced technologies in agriculture,” suggested Mr. Le Cong Nang, CEO of Wondertour.
Connect with tours
Thai Nguyen has built tours linked to agricultural production sites. These tours include visits to tea gardens, clean vegetables, organic fruits, production facilities, agricultural processing facilities, etc., thereby helping tourists learn more about the clean agricultural production process.
In addition, connecting with tourism companies to incorporate agricultural products into tourism products has also brought about many positive effects. This not only helps increase the value of agricultural products but also creates opportunities for local people and businesses to develop sustainably.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong, Director of Vietnamese Gift Company, shared: Agriculture is not only the foundation of the economy but also a cultural symbol of the local community. Green agriculture helps preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of local people. Customs and practices in agricultural production are preserved and developed, thereby creating a unique identity.
Organic agricultural production, following natural processes, also reflects the simple, close-to-nature lifestyle of Thai Nguyen people. These cultural features not only attract tourists but also create a community of solidarity, sharing and mutual support.
From a health care perspective, Dr. Chu Duc Quang said: Strong green agricultural production will contribute to improving public health. When people are aware of using clean and safe food, the rate of food-related diseases will decrease. This change will not only improve people's health but also save on medical costs. Having a clean living environment will help people feel happier and more satisfied.
Developing green agriculture for tourism in Thai Nguyen is a long-term strategy for sustainable development. Efforts in applying clean production methods, protecting the environment, along with developing tourism models related to agriculture will create many new opportunities for people.
With the support of the government and cooperation from the community, Thai Nguyen is fully capable of affirming its position in the clean agricultural products and tourism market, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development in the future.
