Young people vow to devote their youth to the Fatherland
On February 26, in 21 districts and Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City, a "Military Service Camp" was held with the participation of more than 4,000 young men and women recruited for military service (NVQS) and public security service (NVCA).
The Ho Chi Minh City Command said that the organization of the "Army Camp" in 2024 will take place at 12 locations, and the military handover ceremony will take place at 6:30 a.m. on February 27. The main location for the military handover ceremony will be held at the University of Technology, 268 Ly Thuong Kiet (Ward 14, District 10). At this location, the military will be handed over to the 101st Naval Brigade, the 957th Naval Brigade, the Naval Region 4 Training Center, the Naval Region 2 Training Center, the 377th Air Defense Division, and the female soldiers will be handed over to the Military School of Military Region 7.
According to the reporter's records, in many wards in Ho Chi Minh City, from early morning, a large number of young people have been recruited for military service in 2024. In Ward 8 (District 6), after gathering at the ward People's Committee headquarters, the recruited young people will have their hair cut (if any of them have long hair). After that, local leaders will organize gifts for the recruited young people and organize a ceremony to admit them to the Youth Union before taking them to the "Military Camp".
In Ward 8 (District 10), representatives of the Party Committee and local authorities along with local organizations also presented gifts to the young people who had been recruited for military service to encourage them before they left to fulfill their civic duty to the country. In addition to presenting gifts to each young person who had been recruited, the locality also presented a birthday cake to young man Tran Dinh Anh Khoa, to the surprise and emotion of the recipient. At the meeting, a mother of a young person who had been recruited for military service shared that she was always proud of her child when he was able to contribute to the army, she was also reassured and only hoped that her child would complete his mission well. For the young people who had been recruited for military service, they all shared the same opinion that when they put on the military uniform, they felt much more mature, and all of them were willing to contribute their youth to the Fatherland.
Do a good job in the military rear area, achieve 100% of the military recruitment target
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Command, the city's work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2024 has achieved many positive results. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City continues to conduct one-time military recruitment according to the revised Law on Military Service; military recruitment is carried out according to the motto "Recruitment is complete, whoever is recruited is sure". In 2024, the city's military recruitment target is 4,906 citizens, of which 3,956 citizens (3,950 men, 6 women) will perform military service and 950 citizens (949 men, 1 woman) will perform military service.
In order to meet the requirements of building a regular force and a reserve force in the new situation and associated with creating a source of local cadres, since 2019, the Military Region 7 Command has identified a breakthrough in military recruitment, which is: improving the political quality, health, and education of young people joining the army; ensuring publicity, fairness, and democracy in military recruitment; selecting young people with high to low educational levels, giving priority to recruiting young people who have graduated from secondary school, college, and university and are unemployed; giving priority to recruiting young people with type 1 and type 2 health and young people who are children of cadres, party members, and civil servants; nominating 1% of official party members to join the army.
As for the recruitment results, all localities completed 100% of the military recruitment targets according to the decree. Regarding the health of the NVCA, citizens who received the call-up order had health level 1 and level 2, which was 857/950 citizens (reaching 90.21% of the target).
Regarding the health of military servicemen, 3,386/3,956 citizens who received the call-up order have health level 1 and 2 (reaching 85.59% of the target). Compared to 2023, this is an increase of 3.05% and exceeds 15.59% compared to the Directive of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, which is 70% of citizens have health level 1 and 2.

Regarding party members performing military service, there are 108/3,956 comrades, reaching 2.73% of the target; of which official party members are 90/3,956 comrades, reaching 2.28%, exceeding 1.28% of the target by law, an increase of 0.5% compared to 2023. Regarding party members performing military service, there are 11/950 comrades, reaching 1.16%.
Citizens who received the call-up order with intermediate, college, and university degrees were 1,924/3,956 people (reaching 48.63% of the target). Compared to 2023, it increased by 3.17% and exceeded 13.63% compared to the City People's Committee's Directive, which is 35% of citizens with intermediate, college, and university degrees.
Citizens with technical expertise working in state agencies and units are 18 people. Citizens who are children of officials working in state agencies and units are 57 people.
Party committees and authorities at all levels always pay attention to taking care of military rear policies with practical programs such as giving savings books to party members and citizens joining the army in difficult circumstances (districts 5, 6, 11, Tan Binh, Phu Nhuan and Binh Chanh district), giving gifts to citizens who pass the exam, supporting families of citizens joining the army in difficulty..., with a total amount of support from the whole city of 25,318,400,000 VND, on average each citizen leaving for military service receives money and gifts worth about 6.4 million VND.
