Mr Modi held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to Moscow earlier in July. Then, during a visit to Kiev on Friday, Mr Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and stressed that “no problem should be solved on the battlefield”.

During his conversation with Mr. Biden, Mr. Modi reaffirmed India's consistent stance in favor of dialogue and diplomacy, and expressed full support for the early return of peace and stability.
The White House said President Biden welcomes countries to listen to Mr. Zelenskyy’s vision for ending the war, and supports any country that wants to help the Ukrainian president move toward a just peace.
President Biden also praised Prime Minister Modi's message of peace and India's continued humanitarian support to Ukraine, especially in the energy sector.
Both leaders reaffirmed their support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts based on international law and the United Nations Charter.
Modi and Biden also discussed the situation in Bangladesh, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country following student protests against her government.
The two leaders stressed the importance of restoring order and ensuring security for minorities, especially Hindus in Bangladesh.
