Implementing Directive No. 18-CT/TU dated September 1, 2017 of the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee on strengthening the management of exploitation and protection of aquatic resources in the province, from October 22 to 25, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Ha district coordinated with the Quang Duc Border Guard Station to inspect and overcome shortcomings in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
After 4 days of increased inspection in the Hai Ha sea area, the interdisciplinary inspection team to handle IUU fishing violations according to regulations in coastal waters and inshore routes under the district's management approached and disseminated information, distributed leaflets to over 100 fishing vessels operating in the Hai Ha sea area; discovered and drew up administrative penalty records for 4 cases of fishing vessels not complying with regulations on crew members working on fishing vessels, violating regulations on docking and leaving ports. The team administratively fined the above cases with the amount of 15 million VND.
During the inspection, there were still some fishing vessels with blurred license plates, unclear identification marks, torn national flags, life jackets and life buoys in the wrong place, and expired. The delegation propagated and reminded fishing vessels to strictly comply with IUU regulations.
