Through selection from 169 male deer in Huong Son district (Ha Tinh), the professional agency confirmed that 100 male deer met the standards for breeding.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Tinh has just issued Document No. 60/SNN-CNTY dated January 9, 2024 on confirming that male deer meet the selection criteria in 2023 according to Resolution No. 51/2021/NQ-HDND. |
The whole Huong Son district currently has a herd of more than 44,500 deer.
Providing support for the breeding of male deer and applying the results of the selection of breeding stock while waiting for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to issue standards according to regulations, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development confirmed that 100 deer individuals met the criteria for breeding male deer in 2023 according to the provisions of Resolution No. 51/2021/NQ-HDND.
In 2023, the Ha Tinh Agricultural Extension Center coordinated with specialized agencies and localities to survey 19,527 deer, of which 11,468 were male deer, in 4,000 households in 10 communes and towns in Huong Son district.
During the survey and selection process, information on deer breeding processes is collected, such as: mating time, average time between matings, mating efficiency, breeding methods, barns, food and water sources, and disease prevention and control... From there, standards for selecting male breeding deer are developed to ensure the following criteria: balanced, healthy appearance, smooth fur and characteristic color of the sika deer breed; age of male breeding deer from 3-10 years old; minimum antler yield of 1.2 kg/harvest (antler harvesting time is 45 to 55 days).
Selecting standard male deer breeds will contribute to expanding the deer herd.
As a result, 169 deer qualified for selection in 11 localities, of which 100 male deer met the standards for breeding. To date, in Ha Tinh, there have been 200 deer recognized as male breeding deer.
Resolution 51/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 16, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council stipulates policies to encourage agricultural and rural development associated with building the province to meet new rural standards. Accordingly, 100% of the cost of selecting male deer for breeding will be supported, up to 300 million VND/year; support for organizations and individuals with the cost of raising male deer that have been selected to meet the criteria for breeding, up to 2 million VND/animal/year. |
