ANTD.VN - On October 13, 2023, Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM) promoted the import of 150 VinFast electric cars to the Lao market to deploy the Green SM electric taxi service. This is the first step in the plan to expand to foreign markets, making GSM a regional and world-class ride-hailing company, contributing to popularizing electric vehicles to a large number of users.
According to the plan, GSM plans to launch an electric taxi service in Laos in 2023, with a fleet size of up to 1,000 VF 5 Plus and VF e34 vehicles. Initially, GSM will develop an electric taxi service, moving towards fully developing a service ecosystem, including electric car rental and value-added services such as package car booking, tourist car booking, personalized car booking, etc.
In addition to its own business activities, in the future, GSM Laos Company will also deploy B2B activities such as selling and leasing VinFast electric cars, similar to the model being successfully deployed in Vietnam.
With a diverse approach, GSM will gradually create a habit of using green, smart and environmentally friendly vehicles in daily life in Laos, bringing local people a classy, noiseless and emission-free travel experience. Through Xanh SM taxi, GSM will also contribute to promoting the pride of Vietnam - VinFast to the regional market.
Laos is a neighboring country of Vietnam, with policies to support and encourage the use of electric vehicles in state agencies as well as the entire population. The national goal is that by 2030, 30% of the total number of vehicles in circulation will be electric vehicles and 200 public charging stations nationwide. According to data from the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport, by the end of 2022, the number of electric cars registered in circulation was 1,326. In the first 4 months of 2023 alone, 526 more electric cars were imported into Laos. Currently, the charging station system in Laos is also being invested in construction, of which 17 points have been put into operation.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - General Director of GSM said: “Laos is a country that is geographically close and has many similarities with Vietnam, and is also very open to electric vehicles and is a great choice for GSM to initiate its international strategy. After Laos, we will continue to expand our operations to other countries to quickly realize the mission of For a Green Future for Humanity. In addition, GSM also aims to become a bridge to popularize Vietnamese electric vehicles to the world.”
GSM was established and put into operation in April 2023 in Vietnam following the world's first multi-platform green transport model with a 100% electric fleet. After only 6 months of operation, GSM has achieved record growth in scale and speed, carrying out more than 6 million passenger transports, highly appreciated by both consumers and transport units.
According to the plan, from now until the end of 2023, Xanh SM will be present in 27/63 provinces and cities in the country and increase the fleet size to 30,000 electric taxis and more than 90,000 electric motorbikes in the near future.
In parallel with Vietnam, GSM is also promoting its roadmap to expand to the region and the world to become a global ride-hailing Start-up, initially in the ASEAN market, contributing to accelerating the goal of a green future for humanity.
