Recently, the General Director of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), Pham Le Phu, inspected the operation of the 500 kV North-South power transmission system in Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh provinces.

The delegation listened to a report on the operation of the Nho Quan 500 kV Substation.
The power lines are operating at full capacity and are overloaded.
At Ninh Binh Power Transmission Company, Mr. Vu Van Loc, Director of Ninh Binh Power Transmission Company, stated that Ninh Binh Power Transmission Company is tasked with managing and operating the transmission grid in the provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, and a part of Hoa Binh province, with 780 km of 220-500 kV power lines, a total of 8 substations, and a transformer capacity of 5,325 MVA.
Given the prolonged hot weather conditions, operational monitoring statistics show that during peak periods of hot weather, the load increases significantly, and many power lines and transformers under the management of Ninh Binh Power Transmission frequently experience full load and overload situations.
To ensure power supply to the North during the current tense peak of the 2023 dry season, the National Power System Dispatch Center has increased the short-term transmission capacity to 2,600 MVA on the 500 kV Nho Quan - Nghi Son 2 - Ha Tinh line in the South-North direction during certain peak hours, prioritizing the goal of maintaining water levels in multi-purpose hydropower reservoirs in the North.
At Thanh Hoa Power Transmission Company, Mr. Lu Thanh Hai, Director of Thanh Hoa Power Transmission Company, said that the unit manages and operates over 750 km of power lines with 5 substations and a total transformer capacity of 1,625 MVA. The prolonged hot weather and rapidly rising temperatures, with Nghi Son town recording temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, have created a stressful operational situation.

The delegation listened to a report on the operation of the Nghi Son 500 kV Substation.
Playing the most crucial role as a key node in transmitting electricity to the north, the transmission grid in Ha Tinh is also constantly operating under strain. Mr. Nguyen Sy Thang, Director of Ha Tinh Power Transmission, said that starting from May 19th, with the first heatwave of 2023, the load on the 500 kV lines in the Ha Tinh area began to increase significantly, especially the 500 kV Ha Tinh - Vung Ang line, which increased to over 80% of its rated capacity. The 500 kV voltage regime at the substation nodes frequently exceeded its limit. The 220 kV line bays were frequently operating at full capacity and overloaded.

The working group inspected the application of UAVs in operational management at Nghe An Power Transmission Company.
Allocate maximum resources to the North-South 500 kV transmission line.
EVNNPT General Director Pham Le Phu acknowledged and highly appreciated the Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh power transmission companies for proactively implementing solutions to ensure safe and stable grid operation during the recent hot weather and full load, stressful grid operation.

The delegation listened to a report on the operation of the 500 kV Ha Tinh Substation.
Assessing the two 500 kV North-South transmission lines from Ha Tinh to Nho Quan as crucial for ensuring electricity supply in the North, the General Director of EVNNPT requested the leaders of Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1) and other power transmission companies to continue focusing on managing and implementing solutions to ensure safe and continuous grid operation during the hot season, as directed by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN)/EVNNPT.
The unit needs to strengthen operational management and absolutely prevent any incidents caused by human error. It should intensify monitoring of operational conditions, especially the 500 kV North-South interconnection line, minimizing incidents during high transmission periods and thoroughly reviewing and preparing contingency plans for incidents. The operational/incident response force should be strengthened for high-load transmission lines and components during extreme operating conditions.

The inspection team conducted thermal imaging at the Vung Ang 500 kV Substation.
The General Director of EVNNPT requested PTC1 to promptly allocate human and material resources to support Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh power transmission lines to ensure optimal operation of the 500 kV transmission line, ready for all situations, and to ensure continuous, safe, and stable transmission during the hot season.
All units must prioritize ensuring electricity supply as their top priority. All related or supporting tasks for ensuring electricity supply must be directed and implemented immediately by the corporation's leadership and the leadership of the units…
