The Anh Em volunteer group was established in 2017. With the motto "Education is the foundation for children's development", in addition to activities promoting educational development in disadvantaged areas, the Anh Em group also organizes skills training activities and maintains civilized behavior for children living in urban areas.
In order to guide children to a civilized and environmentally responsible lifestyle, from June 28-30, the Anh Em group organized a summer camp at Cua Viet beach for 32 students aged 11-15, from different provinces and cities. The summer camp is a forum to encourage children to discuss the negative impacts of plastic waste on the ocean, where they propose solutions to join hands with the community in collecting and sorting waste at Cua Viet beach.
In this, children participating in the summer camp proposed their own solutions to join hands with the community in collecting and sorting waste at the beach. The 4R principle in waste management was used by children throughout the process of discussing and developing small community-based waste management projects. The first principle of 4R is to refuse (Refuse). Children are encouraged to limit the use and move towards saying no to single-use plastic products.
Children are encouraged to use reusable water bottles and not use plastic bags during the summer camp. Camp activities will help form the habit of not using disposable plastic products, raise awareness of environmental protection and thereby become propagandists for everyone around.
In addition, many meaningful activities have taken place such as: coordinating with the Youth Union, Border Guard, Beach Management Board and people doing business at the beach, collecting and classifying garbage, especially plastic waste; Supporting the placement of two-compartment trash bins in locations with a lot of tourists)...
Specifically, on the morning of June 30, at Cua Viet beach, the participants carried out a project built by themselves with the cooperation of 60 youth union members of Cua Viet town, waste collectors, business households at the beach and the border guards of Cua Viet station. The students also donated two-compartment trash cans to be placed in locations with a lot of tourists.
Through organizing summer camps, the group hopes that young people will live more civilized, have spirit and responsibility, and respect the living environment. By participating in useful activities, young people will gain more knowledge about the environment and skills to protect the environment, thereby spreading the love of nature to family, friends and the community.
