Hanoi Department of Education and Training received the First Class Labor Medal
This morning, November 12, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the capital's education and training sector (1954 - 2024), the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day and to receive the First Class Labor Medal.
The ceremony was held at the National Convention Center, with the participation of 3,500 delegates. On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent congratulatory flower baskets. Secretary of the City Party Committee Pham Thi Minh Hoai, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, along with many guests and representatives of teachers and students in the capital attended.

Looking back at the 70-year journey of building and developing the Hanoi Education and Training sector, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong shared that in the early days of its establishment, the sector had 3 kindergartens, 96 primary schools, and 4 high schools, meeting only 20% of the number of children going to school.
Up to now, Hanoi's education and training sector has the largest scale in the country with 2,913 kindergartens and general schools at all levels, nearly 2.3 million students, nearly 130,000 teachers, of which 342 teachers have been awarded the title of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher.

The rate of public schools meeting national standards accounts for nearly 80% of the city's public schools..., the network of schools and classes is increasingly expanding, investment in facilities is increasing, gradually being standardized and modernized.
Students in the capital have always achieved high results, ranking first in the country in national and international competitions for excellent students. In 2008, the first year after the merger, Hanoi students participating in national competitions for excellent students won only 88 prizes, but by 2024, students in the city won 184 prizes (an increase of nearly 2.1 times). From 2008 to 2024, Hanoi students won nearly 2,200 prizes at national competitions for excellent students and 200 medals at international competitions...

Schools without violence, no forced extra classes
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son acknowledged that the capital's education and training sector has always been one of the pioneering units, leading in all tasks of the entire sector... "The capital's education faces high demands, high requirements, high standards, in exemplary, pioneering, top quality and is an example, a model for education in the whole country. Therefore, what the capital's education has achieved and been recognized in the past time needs to be calculated with a multiplier and added value in all recognition and evaluation," the Minister affirmed.
