Lecturers and staff of Hue Academy of Music are upset because of unpaid wages, the Director gives surprising reasons

According to these officers, lecturers and employees, up to now, their salaries for August and September 2024 have not been paid by the Hue Academy of Music. This has disrupted the lives of many families of officers, lecturers and employees, especially when they have to pay many tuition fees for their children at the beginning of the new school year.

Even an employee of the Hue Academy of Music said that because he was owed 2 months of salary, when he got sick, he "didn't dare go to the hospital".

Faced with this situation, many cadres, lecturers and employees requested clarification on whether the responsibility of owing employees' salaries is the responsibility of the leaders of the Hue Academy of Music or the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Hue Academy of Music is a revenue-generating administrative unit under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Discussing the situation of unpaid salaries for staff, lecturers and employees, Ms. Ha Mai Huong - Director of Hue Academy of Music said: The 2-month salary delay is due to the chief accountant's term ending at the end of July 2024. Hue Academy of Music has completed the application for appointment of an accountant to submit to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in early August 2024. Because the process requires the opinions of the Department of Personnel Finance and the Department of Financial Planning of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before submitting to the Minister, it takes time.

According to Ms. Ha Mai Huong, in the meeting in early September, the leaders of Hue Academy of Music announced the delay in salary payment so that employees could sympathize and share. To solve the immediate situation, this week, Hue Academy of Music will give advance payment of August salary to employees who are really in difficulty.

Currently, Hue Academy of Music has 102 officers, lecturers and employees, of which about 80 officers, lecturers and employees are on the payroll and are paid by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, while the contract workers are paid by the Academy.
