Speaking at the award ceremony, Ms. Vu Viet Trang, Party Secretary and General Director of Vietnam News Agency, highly appreciated the efforts, endeavors and constant creativity of the Sports and Culture Newspaper and its partners, which have widely spread the Award to honor the great love for the capital Hanoi.
Journalist Vu Viet Trang affirmed that the Award has now surpassed all boundaries of time, space and national borders to bring the image of Hanoi to friends around the world.
According to the General Director of Vietnam News Agency, looking at the list of nominees for this year's award announced by the Organizing Committee last weekend, it can be seen that the love for Hanoi is not limited to any specific field. That love may have originated from the decades-long efforts of a researcher in searching for a portrait of Hanoi in the past through archival documents, both in Vietnam and France. That love is from an American writer and political activist who came to Hanoi more than half a century ago, in the midst of the fierce war, to help the world understand more about Vietnam through extremely authentic records...
“Clearly, through each season, especially this year, the Bui Xuan Phai Award - For the Love of Hanoi has increasingly had a broad social impact. The love for Hanoi is not only limited to nominations and awards, but has become concrete and meaningful actions and deeds for the capital,” journalist Vu Viet Trang stated.
From the initial 54 nominations, through the preliminary and final rounds, the Jury has approved the official nomination list for this year's season, including 9 nominations, in 4 categories. From the 9 nominations, in the final voting round, the Jury has unanimously awarded the following awards:
* The grand prize belongs to Professor, Doctor, Architect Hoang Dao Kinh, "knight of architectural relics".
Rarely is there an architect who has devoted his entire life to the work of preserving monuments and cultural heritage like Professor, Doctor, Architect Hoang Dao Kinh. For nearly 50 years, this architect has left his mark of wisdom on many cultural and architectural works across the country. For that reason, his friends and colleagues call him “the knight of architectural monuments”...

* The work award belongs to the book Hanoi in modern times - from concession to city (1873-1945) by Dao Thi Dien published by Hanoi Publishing House and Nha Nam.
As a collection of 40 articles based entirely on documents about Hanoi of the National Archives Center I, the book Hanoi in modern times - from concession to city (1873 - 1945) by author Dao Thi Dien has important contributions to the study of Hanoi's history in modern times, especially documents on urban construction and management as well as protection of Hanoi's cultural heritage.
Historian Duong Trung Quoc, Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, member of the Jury, and Journalist Nguyen Thi Su, Deputy General Director of VNA presented the Certificate, award cup and flowers to researcher Dao Thi Dien. Photo: VNA
* The job award went to Hanoi Tourism Promotion through the MV Going Home by saxophonist Kenny G, produced by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group Vietnam.
This is the MV filmed when Kenny G performed in Hanoi in November 2023 in the Good Morning Vietnam program organized by Nhan Dan newspaper and IB Group Vietnam.
Sharing about this activity, journalist Le Quoc Minh said: "When Nhan Dan Newspaper initiated the Good Morning Vietnam program, we wondered: if we only invited artists to perform purely for a noble purpose - using ticket sales for charity work - it would be very good. However, we wanted to be more different. And when discussing with each other, we came up with the idea of inviting artists to promote Vietnamese tourism" .
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Deputy General Director of VNA and Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education, presented Certificates, Award Cups and flowers to the winners of the Job Awards. Photo: VNA
Journalist Le Quoc Minh analyzed that to introduce Hanoi, tourism in general with beautiful images, attractive comments in videos, perhaps thousands of people have done it. But using the beautiful sounds of famous artists is something that few places can do. Especially when the performing artist transforms into a character in the video to express, this way of doing things is not very popular in the world.
It can be seen that, with the excellence in the image, combined with the appeal of Kenny G, after a period of release, the MV Going Home has received millions of views on all release platforms. But that is not all. The important thing is that the image of Hanoi in particular, Vietnam in general, has been spread to the Vietnamese public as well as the world in an easy-to-receive way, deeply touching people's hearts and thereby leading to more international tourists coming to Vietnam and more domestic tourists coming to Hanoi.
* The idea award belongs to "Project to renovate and embellish the space and landscape around Thien Quang Lake and its vicinity" organized by the People's Committee of Hai Ba Trung District to research and develop in 2023.
Journalist Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung, Deputy General Director of VNA, and journalist Ho Quang Loi, Vice President of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association, former Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and members of the Jury, presented the Certificate, award cup and flowers to the winner of the Idea Award. The project is based on reality: Thien Quang Lake - Thong Nhat Park complex is an area with beautiful, poetic landscapes with full lakes, trees, and shade. In addition, the area also has many valuable works such as Quan Hoa - Phap Hoa - Thien Quang pagoda complex; Hanoi Student Cultural House; Central Circus... However, the construction and upgrading of the landscape of the area is not commensurate with the existing values, the spaces lack overall connectivity, many areas show signs of degradation and damage...
The focus of the project is to create space and landscape based on the principle of maximizing the conservation of the lake surface area and green tree system, providing amenities, and creating open spaces to enhance the visual ability of visitors around the lake.
