Phase 2026 - 2030: Deploying 35 scientific and technological tasks to develop intellectual property

In the period of 2020 - 2025, Tra Vinh organized the implementation of 30/30 scientific and technological tasks to develop intellectual property, with a total cost of over 30.8 billion VND; including 25 certified trademarks and 05 geographical indications.

Comrade Pham Minh Truyen, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, spoke to receive comments from delegates.

Notably, the result of establishing industrial property rights for the geographical indication of Tra Vinh wax coconut has been granted a protection certificate by the National Office of Intellectual Property under Decision No. 653/QD-SHTT, dated August 5, 2024, with 06 certified trademarks established including: Tra Vinh shrimp, Tra Vinh crab, Tra Vinh organic rice, Long Hoa - Hoa Minh organic shrimp, Tra Vinh dragon fruit, Tra Vinh grapefruit.

Support to update and supplement new information of 65 establishments, enterprises, cooperatives (HTX) which are OCOP subjects with 85 types of OCOP products, more than 20 typical rural industrial products and other certified products such as safe products, VietGAP, ISO,... Up to now, 205 establishments, enterprises, cooperatives with 953 types of products have been put on the trading floor. Of which, there are 171 enterprises with 276 types of OCOP products, 77 types of typical rural industrial products (certified at district, provincial, national levels) and 34 enterprises with over 450 other certified products,...

It is expected that by April 2025, 06 more brands will be established (Tra Vinh bird's nest, Tra Vinh sedge, Duyen Hai-Tra Vinh purple onion, Tra Vinh mango, Tra Vinh clam, Tra Vinh wax coconut logo certification) and 40 products associated with the OCOP Program will also have exclusive brands established.

Comrade Nguyen Van Dung, Provincial Party Committee member and Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, proposed tightening the implementation of OCOP product certification.

At the conference, delegates discussed and evaluated the results achieved in implementing the tasks of building OCOP products, brands, product traceability and developing e-commerce. Focusing on building geographical indications and 5-star OCOP certification, ISO-accredited enterprises... are decisive contents in increasing the PCI index.

The agricultural sector is still facing difficulties because the products are still seasonal and unsustainable; the time after OCOP recognition (3 stars) is only valid for 3 years, so OCOP products have not yet promoted added value for farmers. Subjects need to focus on improving the quality of goods when putting them on e-commerce platforms such as product design, communication work, etc.

In the period of 2026 - 2030, Tra Vinh province will implement 35 scientific and technological tasks to develop intellectual property, with a total cost of 40.3 billion VND; of which, there are 08 tasks to build geographical indications and 27 tasks to build certification labels.
