After many days of fluctuations, the price of live pigs in the South today also stabilized following the general trend.
Currently, the price difference in this area is from 1,000 - 3,000 VND, fluctuating between 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg. Long An, Ca Mau and Can Tho are the provinces with the highest price, reaching 63,000 VND/kg.

The situation of pig breeding prices and pig herds nationwide
Currently, the total domestic pig herd has reached a high level of stability, leading to a downward trend in piglet prices. In the North, piglet prices decreased by VND40,000 to VND1.84 million/pig for the 7-10kg type. In the Central and Southern regions, prices were VND1.65 million/pig and VND1.69 million/pig, respectively.
Ha Giang Radio and Television reported that in the first months of this year, African swine fever appeared in some areas of Ha Giang province. However, thanks to effective implementation of zoning and disease treatment measures, by the end of October, the disease was completely controlled.
Up to now, the total pig herd of the province has remained stable compared to last year with nearly 589,000 heads, an increase of more than 2%. The total output of live pigs for slaughter in the first 10 months of the year reached over 56,000 tons, an increase of more than 8% over the same period last year. This output meets the pork consumption needs of people in the province in the last months of the year.
Now is a favorable time for households and livestock farms to restore production to ensure pork supply for the market, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year.
However, in the last months of the year, erratic weather conditions can create conditions for disease outbreaks. Therefore, livestock farmers need to apply biosecurity models to ensure stable and sustainable production.
