Market Comments

According to experts, the live hog market may continue to fluctuate in the coming time, with prices in the North and Central regions likely to decrease slightly, while the South remains stable.

Many traders said that the supply of live pigs in the South has not been affected much, so prices remain high. However, if domestic purchasing power does not improve, prices may drop slightly in the next few days.

The market situation shows that pig prices are still in the adjustment phase, so farmers and livestock businesses need to closely monitor developments to have appropriate strategies.

Ben Tre strengthens prevention of African swine fever

Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh signed an official dispatch directing departments, branches and localities in the province to step up measures to prevent and control African swine fever, according to VNA.

In this direction, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province requested relevant units and People's Committees of districts and cities to fully deploy measures to control and prevent epidemics in accordance with regulations.

According to information from the People's Committee of Ben Tre province, the African swine fever situation is still complicated in the context of a shortage of pork supply in the market and high pork prices in recent times. This makes the risk of an outbreak in the coming time at a worrying level.

Head of the Ben Tre Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department Tran Quang Thai said that disease prevention work on livestock in the locality has been carried out effectively, helping to control the disease situation on livestock. Propaganda on biosafety farming and disease prevention has also been widely deployed from the provincial to grassroots levels, bringing positive results.

The total herd of pigs in Ben Tre is currently about 413,915, up 8.74% over the same period. The price of live pigs in this locality is currently high, helping farmers achieve good profits, with an average income of 2.5 - 3 million VND per pig when sold.
