DNVN - On the morning of March 12, the live hog market continued to have mixed adjustments in many localities. While prices in the North decreased slightly, the South recorded increases in some areas.
Pig price developments by region
Northern region: Live pig prices decreased in Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh and Hanoi provinces, all reaching 77,000 VND/kg. Localities such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ninh Binh maintained the lowest price in the region, at 76,000 VND/kg.
Central Highlands: This region maintains a stable price range of 75,000 - 82,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces continue to lead with a price of 82,000 VND/kg, while Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Khanh Hoa provinces maintain the lowest price of 75,000 VND/kg.
Southern region: In contrast to the North, the price of live pigs in Binh Duong, Ca Mau and Dong Thap recorded a slight increase, up to 82,000 - 83,000 VND/kg respectively. The purchase price in the South fluctuated from 80,000 - 83,000 VND/kg.
Forecasts and recommendations from experts
According to the assessment, the price of live pigs may continue to fluctuate in the coming days. The Central and Southern regions tend to increase slightly, while the Northern region may continue to adjust downward.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ben, Deputy Head of the Department of Crop Production and Livestock Production of Thai Binh province, said that the province's total pig herd reached 695,000, down 1.3% over the same period in 2024, but the output increased by 1.1% to 14,000 tons.
The agricultural sector recommends that farmers proactively source breeds, control production costs, closely monitor market developments and comply with livestock planning. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure biosafety, environmental sanitation and strict disease control.
