DNVN - The price of live pigs on the morning of January 11, 2025 continued to increase in many localities in the North, the highest level reaching 69,000 VND/kg.

Northern pig market

The Northern region maintained the upward trend in prices in some localities this morning.

Pig price on January 9, 2025: Slight increase in the North

Thai Binh and Thai Nguyen: Price increased by 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 69,000 VND/kg.

Other provinces: Prices remain unchanged, ranging from 68,000 - 69,000 VND/kg.

In general, the price of live pigs in the North is quite even among localities, continuing to lead the country in terms of price.

Pig market in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands region recorded no fluctuations this morning, prices ranged from 66,000 - 69,000 VND/kg.

Lam Dong: Maintains the highest price in the region, reaching 69,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, the lowest price in the region is still maintained, only 66,000 VND/kg.

Southern pig market

In the South, the price of live pigs this morning remained stable, fluctuating between 66,000 - 69,000 VND/kg.

Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Kien Giang: These provinces maintain the highest price in the region, reaching 69,000 VND/kg.

Other localities: Transaction prices are stable at 66,000 - 68,000 VND/kg.

According to forecasts, the live hog market may continue to fluctuate slightly in some areas as demand increases at the end of the year.

Livestock industry statistics by the end of 2024

A report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that by the end of December 2024, the country's total pig herd would reach about 31 million, an increase of 3.3% compared to the end of 2023.

Vietnam's poultry herd also reached 575 million, up 2.8% year-on-year. Total live meat output is estimated at 8.26 million tons, up 5.4% year-on-year. Of which, live pork output accounted for 5.16 million tons, up 6.6%, and poultry output reached 2.43 million tons, up 5.4%.

The stability of the pig herd and abundant meat supply are contributing to meeting consumer demand, especially during the peak season at the end of the year when food consumption, especially meat, often increases sharply.

Risk of disease outbreak during peak season

Faced with increased consumer demand, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has warned of the risk of livestock disease outbreaks. Localities have been asked to strengthen strict disease control measures to ensure a safe and quality meat supply to the market during the festive season.
