Speaking with a reporter from Dan Viet about the difficulties and obstacles in the process of developing agriculture, farmers, and rural areas, Mr. Nguyen Cuong - Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer 2024 from Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province, said: "In recent times, the agricultural economy , farmers, and rural areas in Nghe An province in particular and the whole country in general have undergone many positive changes."

However, many difficulties remain, such as extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, and diseases. In addition, the high cost of input materials for production and the unstable market expose farmers to many risks during the production process."

In particular, for the local aquaculture industry, hot weather and stormy seasons have caused many difficulties for the people. At the same time, some unstable land policies have made many families feel insecure when investing in and expanding their production scale.

This is also one of the major obstacles in agricultural production and rural economic development, especially for aquaculture households in Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province.

Specifically, in the case of Mr. Nguyen Cuong's family, they own 6 hectares of aquaculture land (shrimp farming) that was leased from the state for a period of 20 years. The lease has now expired, but Mr. Nguyen Cuong's family has not yet had their lease renewed.

Mr. Nguyen Cuong's family has also invested in many modern equipment and built a high-tech shrimp farming system on this land. However, to date, the Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2024 is very worried because the land for aquaculture of his family has not yet been renewed, preventing him from continuing production with peace of mind.

"Like other households in the area, I hope the government and relevant authorities will pay attention to the people and create conditions for them to extend their land leases. Only when the land has stable legal procedures can people feel secure in investing in production. If the land is not stable, and people are still worried and insecure, they cannot feel secure in investing in production," Mr. Nguyen Cuong added.

In addition, the Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2024 from Nghe An also hopes that the authorities will create favorable conditions for the establishment of aquaculture cooperatives in the area. At the same time, they request that the management agencies provide mechanisms, policies, and incentives to support the cooperative's operation and development.

Mr. Nguyen Cuong, from Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province, is known as a shrimp farming billionaire. Currently, he owns 6 hectares of high-tech whiteleg shrimp farms. Overcoming many difficulties, his shrimp farm sells nearly 150 tons of commercial shrimp to the market each year, earning more than 25 billion VND. Mr. Nguyen Cuong was honored to be elected as an Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2024.
