Talking to Dan Viet reporter about the difficulties and obstacles in the process of developing agriculture, farmers and rural areas, Mr. Nguyen Cuong - Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer 2024 from Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province said: "In recent times, the agricultural, farmer and rural economy in Nghe An province in particular and the whole country in general have had many positive changes.
However, there are still many difficulties such as extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, and epidemics. In addition, the price of input materials for production is high, the market is unstable, so farmers face many risks in the production process."

In particular, for the local aquaculture industry, hot weather and storms have also caused many difficulties for people. At the same time, some unstable land policies have made many families feel insecure when investing and expanding production scale.
This is also one of the major barriers in agricultural production and rural economy, especially for aquaculture households in Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province.
Specifically, in the case of Mr. Nguyen Cuong's family, there are 6 hectares of aquaculture (shrimp farming) land that the state leases for a period of 20 years. The land lease has now expired, but Mr. Nguyen Cuong's family has not yet had the land lease extended.

Mr. Nguyen Cuong's family has also invested in many modern equipment, building a high-tech shrimp farming system on this land area. But up to now, the Excellent Vietnamese Farmer of 2024 is very worried because the family's aquaculture land area has not been extended so that they can feel secure in production.
"I, like other households in the area, hope that the government and competent authorities will pay attention to the people and create conditions for people to extend their land leases. When the land has stable legal procedures, people will feel secure to invest in production. If the land is not stable, people are still worried and insecure, they cannot feel secure to invest in production," Mr. Nguyen Cuong added.
In addition, the Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2024 from Nghe An also hopes that the authorities will create favorable conditions for the establishment of an Aquaculture Cooperative in the area. At the same time, the management agency will have mechanisms, policies and incentives for the cooperative to operate and develop.
Mr. Nguyen Cuong in Dien Trung commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An is known as a shrimp farming billionaire. Currently, he has 6 hectares of high-tech white-leg shrimp farming. Overcoming many difficulties, each year, the shrimp farm sells nearly 150 tons of commercial shrimp to the market, earning more than 25 billion VND. Mr. Nguyen Cuong was honored to be elected as an Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer in 2024.
