Agricultural product prices today: Watermelon crop failure, prices drop by more than half

Watermelon prices have dropped sharply, to only about 2,000 - 4,000 VND/kg in the field, less than half of the price at the beginning of the year, causing farmers in major growing areas such as the Central Highlands and the Mekong Delta to suffer heavy losses.

A farmer in Gia Lai shared that at the beginning of the year, the price of watermelon reached about 8,000 VND/kg, helping him earn 136 million VND from 17 tons of watermelon. However, currently, traders only pay 2,500 VND/kg right at the garden, down nearly 70% compared to the beginning of the year. At this price, farmers here said that the year-end harvest caused them to lose more than 50 million VND.
