Shan Tuyet tea crop is bad, price is low
This is the middle of the third harvest of Shan Tuyet tea trees in Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province. Due to the heavy rain at night and harsh sunlight during the day, it has negatively affected the growth and germination conditions of Shan Tuyet tea trees, leading to a decrease in yield and low selling prices.

Shan Tuyet tea crop is bad, price is low |
Taking advantage of the few sunny days, tea growers in Hoang Su Phi go to the fields to harvest fresh tea buds, but the yield is not much, because many tea trees do not produce buds, so the yield is only half that of other tea crops.
There are no new buds in the tea like last year. Last year, the tea was more expensive, this year the tea is cheaper, the price is lower.
The output of fresh tea buds has decreased significantly compared to the same period in 2023. In addition, the quality of tea buds to produce high-quality tea lines is not available for harvest, leading to a decrease in the output of fresh tea buds to make high-quality tea products. The price of fresh tea buds this year compared to 2023 has decreased by 8,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.

Young areca nut prices continue to rise |
For example, in Nghe An, in the past month, the price of areca nuts has always been at 60,000-65,000 VND/kg (depending on the type). Meanwhile, in Quang Ngai, one of the main areca growing areas in the country, for the past month, traders have been busy buying fresh areca nuts at a price of about 50,000-55,000 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak, the price of fresh areca nuts is also very high. Farmers in K'Ram hamlet, Ea Tieu commune, Cu Kuin district (Dak Lak) said that this year the price of areca nuts is very good, up to 65,000 VND/kg. Although it is a secondary crop, only planted around fences, it still brings them nearly 100 million VND.
However, due to its dependence on the Chinese market, the price fluctuates very erratically. Areca nut prices are currently high, but if China stops purchasing, they will immediately drop. "One year, they were purchasing at 70,000 VND/kg, but just a few days later, they dropped to only 5,000-7,000 VND/kg," said a trader in Nghe An.

Durian price today September 4: Mini durian costs from 70,000 - 160,000 VND/kg
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City durian retail market has seen the appearance of several points selling mini durians, weighing from 0.5 - 1.5 kg each, attracting a large number of consumers to buy because they are affordable and suitable for one-time consumption.
The retail price of this durian is from 70,000 - 160,000 VND/kg, each fruit is not more than 200,000 VND.
A representative of an agricultural company in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, a wholesale supplier of this type of durian with each box containing 25 kg, said that this is not a new durian variety but the goods are selected according to the requirements of the gardens. They said that in the gardens there will be many sizes and the gardeners focus on taking care of the fruit so that it grows to meet the tastes of the Chinese market (from 1.6 - 5.5 kg, enough compartments - commonly called type A and B goods) to sell for export at high prices, so the proportion of mini durian only accounts for 2% - 3%.
