This morning, December 1, the Association of People with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Support for People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights of Quang Tri province in collaboration with the Research Center for Inclusive Development (RCI), within the framework of the Inclusion Project 1, organized a meeting to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 2024 with the theme "Enhancing the leadership role of people with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future". Attending the meeting were 60 prominent people with disabilities and association officials from the project area in Dong Ha city, Gio Linh district, and Hai Lang district.

Chairman of the Association of People with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Support for People with Disabilities and Protection of Children's Rights of Thai Vinh Lieu province said that since 1992, December 3 of each year has been officially chosen by the United Nations as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the aim of promoting understanding of disability issues worldwide.
As of December 2023, Quang Tri province has over 31,000 people with disabilities, including disabled people who are war invalids, sick soldiers, victims of Agent Orange/DIOXIN...
Of which, people with severe disabilities: 4,782 people; people with severe disabilities: 15,607 people. The meeting aims to honor the spirit of continuous improvement and contributions of the disabled community around the world, Vietnam in general and Quang Tri in particular; affirm the importance of active participation and leadership position of people with disabilities in all areas of social life.

At the meeting, the Alliance for the Integration of People with Disabilities - AAI, in which RCI is the leading unit and also one of the units implementing the Integration 1 project, organized meaningful activities for delegates with disabilities to participate in such as interactive games, discussing simulated situations on improving opportunities and living conditions for people with disabilities in the community.
