On the occasion of the launch of the book “If all I have are words”, Kim Dong Publishing House organized a meeting and talk with author Hien Trang with the theme: “Young words towards the world ”. The program had the participation of writer of the same generation 9X Huynh Trong Khang.

The exchange takes place at 9am on Sunday, August 18 at Stage A, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street.

This is the latest collection of essays by Hien Trang, a writer of the 9X generation. She is an author with many diverse works from short stories, novels to essays on art.

In 2022, Hien Trang went to the US to participate in the International Writing Program (IWP) of the University of Iowa - one of 33 writers from 33 countries and territories. "If all I have are words" are pages about art that Hien Trang recorded from her experiences and feelings during her honorable participation in IWP.

Hien Trang's journey in the book can be seen as a slow film, to dialogue with literature and art, to think about the relationship between literature, art and life.

“I chose to tell the most meaningful thing to me, fortunately also the most meaningful thing to Iowa, which is literature. In that story, Iowa is like a character, a matchmaker, who draws me in and gives me space and time to dialogue with literature" - the author shared.

The writer always considers himself a literary apprentice, a clumsy craftsman in the writing profession or a pen with all its shortcomings and limitations. The author himself once confessed that he was quite confused, even reserved when answering about his “writer’s profession”. Writing, like all other professions, requires the spirit of a warrior in the constant battle of doubt: Everyone has fears of being stuck in the middle of repetitive days, writing in the shadow of great writers or the fear of struggling with words.

“If all I have are words” is the author's journey of searching for words and literature, inspiring readers.

Previously, Kim Dong Publishing House published the story collection "The Audience Sitting in the Dark" - a collection of familiar characters in Vietnamese literature, appearing with a new look, new perspective and new thoughts through the writer's perspective.
