Nearly 1,900 billion to build road connecting Dai Ngai bridge

TPO - The People's Committee of Soc Trang province has just submitted a document to the Prime Minister on the construction of a section from Dai Ngai bridge connecting to National Highway 60, Soc Trang city, about 14km long, with an estimated cost of nearly 1,900 billion VND.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province proposed that the Prime Minister soon support the locality to invest in a road from Dai Ngai bridge connecting with the existing National Highway 60. The connecting route is about 14km long, with a scale of 2 lanes, a level III plain road, with an investment capital of about 1,870 billion VND, from the surplus of the Dai Ngai bridge construction investment project connecting Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces.

Soc Trang province analyzed that the investment in the connecting road aims to promote the effectiveness of Dai Ngai bridge on National Highway 60, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway (phase 1) and the project to improve and upgrade National Highway 91B (Nam Song Hau road). The project also improves the connection between the Southeast region of Soc Trang province and Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau provinces...

However, due to many difficulties and limited resources, this section of National Highway 60 (new) has not been invested in and constructed synchronously, ensuring the connection of the entire National Highway 60 according to the approved plan, not meeting the requirements of local socio-economic development.

Soc Trang province leaders believe that if this section is invested in, the new National Highway 60 will be fully open in Soc Trang province, connecting with National Highway 1, Phung Hiep Highway, and National Highway 61B through the old National Highway 60, improving the transportation efficiency of the province and the Mekong Delta region.

The Dai Ngai Bridge construction investment project on National Highway 60 in Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces was started on October 15, 2023. After completion and operation, the project will make an important contribution to economic restructuring, creating momentum for socio-economic development, regional connectivity, improving the quality and living conditions of people in the province in particular and the region in general.
