Mobilizing resources from people's diplomacy

To mobilize more international resources to accompany activities to care for Agent Orange victims, the Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims, together with the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and related units, proactively provided information about Agent Orange victims and the need for assistance of Agent Orange victims and their families to NGOs, foreign associations, and FDI enterprises through the creation of a list of projects calling for funding.

First, the Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims, together with the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and other units, proactively informed NGOs, foreign associations, and FDI enterprises about the situation of Agent Orange victims in the province. Accordingly, Dong Nai currently has nearly 8,000 Agent Orange/Dioxin victims still alive. Nearly 5,000 of these cases are receiving monthly support from the State.

At the same time, in the list of 62 projects implemented by Dong Nai to call for funding from NGOs, foreign associations, and FDI enterprises in the period of 2024-2025, there are 3 projects for victims of Agent Orange and people with disabilities (including disabled people who are victims of Agent Orange), including: supporting house repairs for 30 families of Agent Orange victims; supporting 1,300 wheelchairs and rocking chairs for people with disabilities (including disabled people who are victims of Agent Orange); providing health care and equipment support for victims of Agent Orange. Currently, a number of units have registered to learn about these projects and have initially received support to implement the projects according to the unit's capabilities.

In addition, to build trust with individuals and organizations participating in contributions, including NGOs, foreign associations, FDI enterprises, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin commits to contributing resources to the right beneficiaries, in sufficient quantity. At the same time, depending on each specific case of disability and actual need for assistance, Agent Orange victims will receive appropriate assistance.

More joy for Agent Orange victims

Through mobilizing resources from NGOs, foreign associations, and FDI enterprises, many Agent Orange victims in the province have received meaningful assistance.

Specifically, among 100 agencies, units and individuals participating in monthly subsidies for 314 Agent Orange victims, there are 10 individuals, NGOs, foreign associations and overseas Vietnamese supporting Agent Orange victims. The amount of money each Agent Orange victim receives monthly from this support ranges from 300,000 VND to 1 million VND.

Ms. Vo Thi Thu Van, an Agent Orange victim in Tan Tien Ward, Bien Hoa City, said that through the connection and mobilization of the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and other units, she received support gifts from charitable organizations and individuals, including foreign friends. Each gift received helped her and her family ease the difficulties in life.

Along with that, projects and non-projects on infrastructure and vocational training for Agent Orange victims from international resources are also being implemented. These include funding support for building solid houses for Agent Orange victims. Non-refundable capital support for Agent Orange victims and their families to create jobs for themselves.
