(PLVN) - Tourism is an industry that always needs to innovate, create and update market trends. Especially for the tourism of the upper class, they are willing to spend tens, hundreds of millions of VND to experience new and attractive things. To retain luxury tourists, the Vietnamese tourism industry needs to develop synchronously, creating an ecosystem for this 5-star segment.
Creating a turning point for the high-end segment
Since the beginning of 2024, Vietnam has welcomed a series of luxury tourists. In March, an American billionaire couple chose a resort hidden on the top of Bac Buu Mountain (Ha Giang) as their vacation destination in Vietnam. Here, they spent 4 days and 3 nights living leisurely in the mountains and forests, participating in "super" expensive activities such as riding a jet ski to see the Nho Que River, and taking a helicopter straight to Ha Giang.
A month later, billionaire Tim Cook, the famous CEO of Apple, visited Vietnam. During his short business trip, he took the time to transform into a tourist, visiting the thousand-year-old land of Hanoi. Tim Cook himself exclaimed: "There is no place like Vietnam - a vibrant and beautiful country". In addition, there are a series of other billionaires coming to Vietnam in 2024, such as Bill Gates and his girlfriend staying in Da Nang for nearly a week, attracting the attention of the community around the world. Or thousands of employees of the Indian billionaire visited Vietnam and gave "winged" compliments to the strong development of our country's tourism industry.
Thanks to the influx of super-rich tourists, Vietnam tourism has created a turning point for the high-end tourism segment in Vietnam. For example, after the American billionaire couple's trip to Ha Giang. Local tourism has coordinated with travel agencies to create conditions for building luxury tours. High-end passengers can book tours using helicopters as a means of transportation, visit the place by off-road jeep, water models gliding on rivers, etc.
The Da Nang Department of Tourism said that in the draft of the stimulus program to attract visitors in 2024, there is a plan to organize a tea tour at Ban Co Peak on Son Tra Peninsula after the visit of billionaire Bill Gates in March. The Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches will build a reasonable time frame for luxury guests to ensure service for public visitors and can organize special tours. This is a new and necessary product for the city to exploit its existing potential to attract the super-rich segment.
Forming an ecosystem of high-end products and services
According to World Ultra Wealth 2024, in the next 5 years, the super-rich will increase by 38% to 587,650 people. Their total assets will also increase by 19,000 billion USD. Attracting luxury tourists to Vietnam contributes significantly to socio-economic development. In 2025, it is expected that many more high-class delegations from countries around the world will visit our country.
In fact, Vietnam is becoming a new tourist destination for the upper class and the super-rich at home and abroad. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for the Vietnamese tourism industry. Vietnamese tourism needs to develop synchronously to continue to retain luxury customers.
According to the Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Nguyen Trung Khanh, to develop high-end tourism, businesses and localities need to link products, improve processes and standards, and form an ecosystem to provide high-end products and services to tourists. In particular, focusing on investing in developing suitable products that are unique, original, individual, personalized, sophisticated, culturally connected, and in harmony with nature and the environment.
To attract the high-end customer segment, customers always require unique and personalized products to Vietnam. In addition to new tourism products, factors such as 5-star accommodation facilities, professional staff ensuring safety for tourists. Unique cuisine will attract high-end customers... must be paid attention to.
Therefore, it is necessary for the tourism industry of provinces and localities to closely coordinate with travel agencies and accommodation establishments to establish a high-end segment ecosystem. For example, Quang Ninh province is currently developing luxury tours. In early October, Quang Ninh began looking for 7 pristine island areas and beaches to build new tourism products to serve super-rich guests - 1% of the world's population. Mr. Nguyen Duc Hanh, CEO of All Asia Vacation (AAV) - a unit that has organized many tours for the rich, said that the company is allowed to deploy high-end tourism products for the super-rich in Ha Long Bay. From now until the first quarter of next year, the company plans to organize a group of super-rich guests to experience new products each month.
The first guest to experience the tour for the super-rich in Ha Long Bay is a billionaire from the US, who plans to spend two days and one night in November in the Tra San - Cong Do area, which has many natural sand beaches, coral reefs and diverse underwater life.
