Towards the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), on the afternoon of April 15, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting, presented gifts, provided medical examinations, health consultations, and provided free medicine to those who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign in Thanh Liem district.

Comrade Le Thi Thuy, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council attended the event to speak, visit and present gifts to Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and Volunteers living in the district. Also attending were leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Military Command, leaders of a number of functional departments, branches, and local Party committees and authorities.

The Dien Bien Phu victory was a momentous event, containing great significance and significance of the era, crushing the highest war effort of French colonialism and American intervention, forcing the enemy to sign the Geneva Agreement, ending the war, and recognizing the independence of the three Indochinese countries.

According to the History of the Military Party Committee of Ha Nam Province 1947-2012, during the 9-year long resistance war, the army and people of Ha Nam fought nearly 10,000 battles, annihilated 40,000 enemies; destroyed and damaged nearly 400 military vehicles, shot down 2 planes; sank and burned 5 warships and canoes, and captured many enemy weapons and equipment. Families and clans in the province encouraged 9,525 of their children to join the army, participate in fighting on all fronts; mobilized tens of thousands of laborers, hundreds of thousands of tons of food, clothing, and medicine to support the battlefield. At the end of the 9-year resistance war, the whole province had 3,599 martyrs and 905 wounded soldiers. With the achievements in the resistance war against the French, the Party Committee, army and people of Ha Nam, along with 20 collectives and individuals, were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State.

In Thanh Liem, Liem Tuc guerrillas attacked and destroyed 35 enemy soldiers. On all roads in the province, hundreds of enemy vehicles were overturned and burned by guerrillas' mines. Many traffic routes were severely damaged and cut off. On the river routes, enemy warships and canoes were also continuously intercepted and destroyed by our troops.

Speaking at the program, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Thi Thuy respectfully expressed her deep gratitude and admiration for the self-reliance, dedication, and sacrifice of the Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and Frontline Workers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, contributing to protecting the Fatherland; at the same time, she acknowledged and highly appreciated the spirit of overcoming difficulties, overcoming disabilities, continuing to contribute intelligence, strength, and enthusiasm in production, contributing to building the homeland of Ha Nam to become increasingly rich, beautiful, and civilized.

The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that in recent years, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee have led and directed all levels, sectors, and localities to well implement the movements of gratitude, remembering the source of water when drinking, and the movements of "Joining hands to build new rural areas", "For community health", "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind"; well implement the military rear policy, social security policy such as: Solving the backlog of policies after the war, building hundreds of gratitude houses, giving thousands of gifts, hundreds of savings books, taking care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; providing medical examinations, health consultations, and free medicine to thousands of policy families, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and poor households with an amount worth tens of billions of VND, contributing to sharing difficulties, improving life and strengthening the solidarity and close relationship between the Party and the People.

On this occasion, the Provincial Party Secretary requested Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province to perform well a number of tasks: Correctly, fully and promptly implement preferential policies of the Party and State for families with revolutionary contributions; take better care of war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and people with revolutionary contributions; Continue to renovate and embellish martyrs' cemeteries and the work of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains, identifying martyrs, notifying and creating conditions for families and relatives to visit. Pay attention to educating the tradition of national history and revolutionary achievements to all classes of people, especially the young generation. Continue to promote the patriotic emulation movement associated with the peak emulation period to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, determined to successfully carry out the two strategic tasks of building and defending the Fatherland, and developing the economy - society in the current period.

On the same day, the Provincial Party Secretary and the delegation visited and presented gifts to the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Truong - a Dien Bien soldier (94 years old) in Thanh Huong commune, Thanh Liem district and the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Vy - a frontline laborer (89 years old) in Thanh Phong commune, Thanh Liem district.

At the families he visited, the Provincial Party Secretary expressed his gratitude and deep thanks for the sacrifices of the Dien Bien soldiers. At the same time, he also hoped that the Dien Bien soldiers, with their courage, enthusiasm, responsibility and exemplary behavior, would continue to educate the tradition and revolutionary heroism, and pass on their experiences to the younger generation so that the younger generation - the future owners of the country - can promote their pioneering and creative role in labor - production, socio-economic development, strengthening national defense - security, and building our country to be increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.
