In the joyful and warm atmosphere of Christmas 2024, on the afternoon of December 22, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh visited and congratulated the Hanoi Archbishop's Palace, the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) and the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee.
The delegation included leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, the Government Office, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (Ministry of Home Affairs), and Hanoi City.
At the General Assembly of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North), Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh sent his best wishes to the President, pastors, and believers for a peaceful and healthy Christmas, a prosperous and peaceful New Year, and to continue to unite with other religions in the spirit of the Vietnamese people joining hands to build the country, preparing for a new phase of take-off, accelerating to bring the country to prosperity, and for people to have an increasingly prosperous and happy life.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes to hear the Church's suggestions on promoting the consolidation of national unity, socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and taking better care of the people.
Pastor Bui Van San, President of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) shared his joy and emotion when the Deputy Prime Minister took the time to visit and wish him a Merry Christmas, preparing to welcome 2025.
Thanking the Party and State for always paying attention and creating favorable conditions for the Church to operate, Pastor Bui Van San said that since being recognized as a legal entity by the State in 1954, the Vietnam Evangelical Church (North) has now developed in 28 provinces and cities from Quang Binh and beyond, with over 200,000 believers and more than 800 dignitaries and pastors. Protestants are living quite stably; at the same time, he hopes that the Party and State will continue to pay attention to Protestants and guide them in registering for religious activities.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh wished Archbishop Joseph Vu Van Thien, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Hanoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Bishops' Council, and bishops, priests, nuns and parishioners a peaceful and happy Christmas; at the same time, he hoped that the dignitaries would continue to make contributions to the church and parishioners, contributing to the construction and development of an increasingly prosperous country and a happier life for the people.
Emphasizing that the Party and State always consider improving people's lives as the highest goal, so that people can have a prosperous and happy life, regardless of religion or creed, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Party and State's policy is to pay attention to creating conditions for Catholicism to develop, wishing for people's lives to be increasingly improved, guiding people to good deeds, fulfilling their civic duties, taking care of building family life, developing the economy, contributing to building an increasingly powerful country.
On behalf of the Archdiocese of Hanoi, Archbishop Joseph Vu Van Thien respectfully thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his sentiments and best wishes to Catholics on the occasion of Christmas; and hoped to continue to receive the attention and facilitation of the Party and State for the religious activities of the Archdiocese of Hanoi in the coming time. Vietnamese Catholics in general and the Archdiocese of Hanoi in particular will continue to accompany the nation to contribute to bringing the country into an era of development, a rich people, and a strong country.
Sharing the joy of representing the Party and State leaders to visit and extend Christmas greetings to the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh acknowledged that over the past time, the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee has made many contributions to building the great national unity bloc.
The great national unity is the source of Vietnam's strength, helping us achieve great victories in the resistance wars, create miracles in the work of building and defending the Fatherland, and together overcome the devastating devastation of epidemics and natural disasters. The spirit of national unity has made our country and people stronger and take off into a new era, an era of wealth and prosperity. In that common success, there is the contribution of the Catholic community, especially the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee.
Priest Giuse Tran Xuan Manh, President of the Central Committee of the Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, thanked the Party and State for their support, and will continue to support the Committee, a trustworthy member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; affirmed that the Priest himself and the Committees at all levels will strive to continue to encourage Catholics at home and abroad to well implement the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and patriotic emulation movements, contributing more to the cause of national construction and defense.
