The Saigon International University (SIU) football team participated in the football tournament organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation for the second time. The school has invited Dr. Pham Thai Vinh from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports to be a professional advisor for the school's student football team, aiming to improve the quality of the players, for more than a year now.

The 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2024) will open today, January 6. Many months before, the teachers and students of Saigon International University arranged many training sessions on the artificial turf field on Chu Van An Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City and played friendly matches on the 11-a-side field with many university teams in the area.

SIU is one of the teams with "huge" investment in the tournament.

Lecturer, Dr. Pham Thai Vinh, professional advisor of Saigon International University team, said that one of the impressive points of SIU is that the school always creates the best conditions for activities, including sports activities of students.

"The school does not hesitate to invest so that students have the best environment to practice and compete in sports, and accumulate experience at prestigious student football fields. In response to the requirements for a standard field to practice and compete, and to get acquainted with the TNSV THACO Cup 2024, the school always meets the team's needs and proactively supports, so that student players can gradually improve their skills," Dr. Vinh commented.

According to Mr. Vinh: "The Board of Directors of Saigon International University always encourages students to participate in many extracurricular sports clubs. Students' active participation in sports activities is considered one of the criteria for evaluation and classification in terms of training activities. Every year, this university also organizes to honor and reward students with achievements in sports activities as well as cultural activities, painting, intellectual and beauty contests."

Players have improved a lot compared to season 1 to participate in the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament.

They were given practice in sunny weather to get used to the qualifying matches.

Not only that, according to the professional advisor, this university football team has a dedicated communications department that works meticulously, always ensuring transportation for the team during matches as well as during training. This creates the most comfortable mindset for the team, from the players, to the coaching staff, to the logistics staff... to enter the training day.

After more than a year as an advisor, Dr. Pham Thai Vinh has noticed that SIU players have gradually matured. Most recently, on January 4, SIU had a friendly match with Hung Vuong University, Ho Chi Minh City and won 2-1. This was also SIU's first victory in the 11-player field after more than a year of Mr. Vinh supporting the team.

The team's biggest goal is that through tournaments, especially in the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup, SIU players can learn and exchange to practice their capacity and will in the field of sports.

"To be fair, we must admit that the professional capacity of SIU players is still limited and needs to be improved more. However, in this year's TNSV THACO Cup 2024, SIU has had longer-term preparation than the first season. I dare say that the team can confidently play fairly and equally with opponents such as Hung Vuong University, Ho Chi Minh City; RMIT University or Ho Chi Minh City University of Management and Technology," Mr. Vinh said.
