Vietnamese businesses accelerate exports thanks to listing on Alibaba.com

Three outstanding Vietnamese business representatives were honored as Alibaba.com's Outstanding E-Commerce Leaders in Vietnam in 2024. Their businesses, thanks to being listed on Alibaba.com, have accelerated the export of goods abroad.

Alibaba.com, the leading global business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform, has just coordinated with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to organize the Vietnam National Finals of the KEL Award.

As a result, among the 6 faces that entered the Final Round, the Organizing Committee selected the 3 most outstanding faces to honor as Alibaba.com's Outstanding E-Commerce Leaders in Vietnam in 2024. They are Can Quang Sang - Marketing Director of Vihaba Import-Export and Trading Company Limited, Xuan Hai Yen - Deputy Director of Proline Vietnam Production and Trading Company Limited and Ha Thi Thu - E-Commerce Manager of the International Business Department of Karofi Group.

These will also be the 3 representatives of Vietnam to attend the Regional Finals of the KEL Award, scheduled to take place in Hanoi later this year.

Three faces received the Alibaba.com Outstanding E-Commerce Leader Award in Vietnam 2024.

“The KEL Award Vietnam is a testament to the excellence of entrepreneurship in Vietnam. We are proud to provide a platform for sellers to showcase their success and gain regional recognition,” said Mike Zhang, Alibaba.com Country Manager for Vietnam.

According to Mr. Mike Zhang, this event not only honors outstanding leaders, but also aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises to develop sustainably and reach out to international markets.

“Through this initiative, we hope to inspire and enable Vietnamese businesses to seize opportunities in the global market more effectively,” Mr. Mike Zhang emphasized.

In fact, many Vietnamese businesses, thanks to being listed on Alibaba, have found their way to the world and accelerated their exports. Proline Vietnam is an example.

According to Ms. Xuan Hai Yen, Deputy Director of Proline Vietnam Production and Trading Company Limited, after introducing sales on Alibaba, Proline Vietnam has transformed from providing only one product in the first year of export, to becoming a company providing comprehensive packaging solutions, with a growth rate of 280% compared to 2018.

Meanwhile, Mr. Can Quang Sang's agricultural export company Vihaba, from just the first small order, with 2 tons of tea exported to the US, has continuously grown remarkably.

Specifically, Vihaba has had a 300% growth leap in the period 2021-2022, and achieved 100% growth in 2022-2023.

“In 2024, we will continue our breakthrough growth momentum and plan to open another store on Alibaba.com in the near future,” said Mr. Can Quang Sang.

The same is true for Karofi. According to Ms. Ha Thi Thu, in 2016, Karofi started exporting its first products to the world, but by 2023, it had exported to 40 countries. Of which, 20% were exported through Alibaba.com.

Mr. Mike Zhang, Alibaba.com Country Director in Vietnam shared at the event.

Thanks to the support of Alibaba.com, many Vietnamese businesses have been able to step out into the world. However, the number is still modest.

According to Mr. Mike Zhang, the reason is because businesses often tend to use traditional channels, such as official exports, or through foreign-invested companies.

“However, Vietnam currently has many businesses and startups with their own identity that need to find foreign customers. This group is shifting to cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba.com, so the number will certainly increase in the future,” said Mr. Mike Zhang.

According to Mr. Mike Zhang, Alibaba.com is currently implementing four solutions to support Vietnamese businesses in exporting goods abroad. First of all, promoting products that are Vietnam's strengths on Alibaba.com's homepage, thereby helping businesses receive more interactions.

Second, support businesses in terms of efficiency, including support with technology and tools to help businesses reach customers more easily, more professionally, saving time and money.

Third is to ensure safety for businesses when working with foreign businesses and fourth is to support transportation issues.
