Quang Nam enterprises and new driving force for export

Rebound from the beginning of the year

On the first day of the year of At Ty 2025, more than 300 containers of goods from THACO member corporations were exported through Chu Lai port to the international market. Exporting goods is THACO's expectation for a new year of production and business with new successes.

THACO AUTO (a member corporation of THACO in the automobile sector) exported 120 Kia Frontier trucks to Middle Eastern countries, 400 Kia New Carnival body paint kits to India and 45 Peugeot Django 150cc motorbikes to Cambodia.

The Middle East is a completely new market with high requirements for quality standards. Products are manufactured on modern technological lines at factories in THACO AUTO's production center in Chu Lai, meeting the strict standards of partners KIA and Peugeot.

In 2025, THACO INDUSTRIES (a member corporation of THACO in the field of mechanics and supporting industries) will export 2,800 semi-trailers of all kinds to the North American market; 1.4 million spare parts to Asia; 50,000 civil equipment products to North America; 40,000 industrial equipment components to Australia; 9,000 industrial equipment sets to Europe. The products are manufactured on advanced technological lines, strictly controlled in quality, meeting international standards, especially in high-demand markets such as North America, Australia, Europe, etc.

THACO AGRI (a member corporation of THACO in the agricultural sector) exported nearly 4 thousand tons of fresh fruit to Japan and China.

By promoting the application of mechanization and biotechnology to create quality products, THACO AGRI is a strategic partner of many large enterprises in the Asian market. In the period of 2022 - 2024, THACO AGRI exported 100 thousand tons of fresh fruit to major markets such as China, Japan, Korea, and the Middle East.

The large export shipments at the beginning of the year have affirmed the production capacity and product quality of THACO's member corporations, while demonstrating the determination to participate deeply in the global value chain, making THACO the leading multi-industry industrial corporation in the ASEAN region.

In addition to THACO, the leading export corporation, businesses investing in production and business to export goods in industrial parks and industrial clusters of the province have also shown signs of improvement, creating momentum since the beginning of the year.

Mr. Zhao Lin - Deputy Director of Peak Outdoor Co., Ltd. (Ha Lam - Cho Duoc Industrial Park, Binh Phuc Commune, Thang Binh) said that the concern of enterprises when investing in Quang Nam for the first time is the fear of lacking orders or decreasing orders over the years. The investment process shows that export orders to Europe and America are getting more and more frequent, so enterprises are looking for ways to expand production scale.

New momentum

Mr. Le Vu Thuong - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that the import-export turnover in 2024 of enterprises in the province reached 5,012 million USD (an increase of 23.4% over the same period in 2023). Of which, the export turnover reached 2,119 million USD.

It can be seen that the efforts of the Government, ministries, sectors, Quang Nam industry and trade sector, and enterprises have promoted negotiations and signing of new generation free trade agreements (FTAs), bringing the total number of FTAs that Vietnam has signed and participated in to 17 FTAs, opening up prospects for exporting goods around the world, creating an export mark for Quang Nam.

The current problem with exporting goods from Quang Nam is that businesses are not responsible for reporting to the Department of Industry and Trade, so the authorities do not know clearly.

For export data in the province, the Department of Industry and Trade must ask the provincial Customs Department, but the Customs Department only knows the data of enterprises carrying out export procedures at the unit, while enterprises carrying out export procedures in other provinces do not know. Meanwhile, there are many cases of large enterprises carrying out procedures in other provinces with large ports convenient for exporting goods.

Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has not yet delegated authority to Quang Nam to control the goods, number of enterprises, and export turnover of the whole province. Another difficulty in exporting goods from Quang Nam is that the goods are still raw and not yet deeply processed. Agricultural and aquatic products are mainly purchased, collected and exported by traders. Enterprises in the area do not dare to export strongly because of the high risk due to the difficulty in accessing market price information and procedures and regulations of importing countries.

"We propose that the Ministry of Industry and Trade regularly provide market information to support export enterprises and recommend that ministries and branches supplement reporting regimes for enterprises to send to the Department of Industry and Trade for monitoring and management," said Mr. Thuong.

To create new momentum for Quang Nam's goods export, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to further improve the quality of foreign trade promotion, expand export markets for local goods; support and guide enterprises on international economic cooperation, access free trade agreements between Vietnam and partners. At the same time, implement programs and projects to develop the export of key products of the province; help enterprises grasp new opportunities to export goods.
