Creating an application ecosystem on the 5G platform
On December 11, in Quang Ninh, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) organized the 5th National Forum on Developing Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises with the theme "Creating digital applications to develop the digital economy - Driving force for economic growth and labor productivity".
At the forum, representatives of digital businesses shared success stories in applying digital to create digital products for practical applications, helping to change Vietnam and change the world.
Speaking at the discussion, Mr. Ly Quoc Chinh - Deputy General Director of VNPT Technology Joint Stock Company said that 5G is not only a connection infrastructure, but also related to technologies such as Cloud, IoT, AI, Big Data... creating applications for businesses.
Mr. Ly Quoc Chinh - Deputy General Director of Post and Telecommunications Industrial Technology Joint Stock Company.
If businesses go their own way, they will create fragmented applications, without competitive advantages in scale, causing waste of resources. Therefore, businesses need to create an ecosystem of applications on the 5G platform. The infrastructure of network operators serves as the foundation, initiating services and applications, through B2C, B2B, B2D models to create an ecosystem.
According to Mr. Ly Quoc Chinh, a business, no matter how big, cannot solve all the problems of organizations and businesses. Focusing only on a technology platform business model is not feasible.
Therefore, to solve the problem, Mr. Chinh believes that an ecosystem community is needed, bringing it to businesses, supporting them to develop together. To build an ecosystem, large businesses need to lead and support small businesses to create a larger community, through support, sharing benefits, connecting, helping the components in the ecosystem to develop symbiotically.
VNPT hopes that the Government will issue specific mechanisms and policies to help large enterprises and large technology corporations in Vietnam boldly invest in developing and operating digital service ecosystems to serve national digital transformation. There will be a legal corridor or support mechanism for small enterprises to boldly participate in the ecosystem, avoiding "a hundred flowers blooming", causing waste of resources.
In addition, to develop a sustainable IoT industry, it is recommended that the Government develop a synchronous training strategy and restructure human resources in accordance with the specific goals of each vertical industry.
To develop the IoT industry in conjunction with the effective development of the electronics and telecommunications industry, VNPT also recommends that the Government have policies to support businesses in researching and developing IoT devices, including the design and manufacture of semiconductor chips, sensors, embedded devices, etc. for IoT.
Businesses must put AI on the chip
Sharing at the forum with the topic "FPT from power chip to semiconductor dream", Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - General Director of FPT said that in Vietnam, in 2022, the electronics, computer and component export industry will rank 2nd out of 8 industries with export turnover of over 10 billion USD.
According to the report of the Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry and Trade, the total export turnover of the electronics industry in 2022 reached more than 114 billion USD.
According to FPT General Director, Vietnam is facing huge opportunities, but we also need to ask the question "how will we participate?".
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - General Director of FPT shared at the forum.
From a business perspective, FPT will focus on design, packaging, and testing in the short term. In the medium term, it will build a chip manufacturing complex and chain, and in the long term, it will master core technology, focusing on industries that are growing strongly in the world such as energy, electric vehicles, and IoT. Furthermore, all businesses must put AI into chips.
FPT General Director affirmed: "The creative spirit and natural capacity of Vietnamese people have come to be developed. I believe that in the coming time, when the Government creates good legal corridors and mechanisms, Vietnamese people will create technological legacies in the world and participate in the global chip supply chain."

Bringing Vietnamese digital technology services to the world
Assessing the competitive advantages of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises, Mr. Pham Thai Son - General Director of NTQ Solution Company emphasized four factors, including broadband infrastructure coverage.
Currently, 77.9% of people use the internet in Vietnam, accounting for nearly 80% of the population. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are also among the top dynamic cities in the world. In addition, the human resources are about 1.5 million ICT workers, more than 530,000 programmers and engineers. The cost of IT services is only 1/3-1/4 compared to the cost in the home country.
Sharing NTQ's experience, Mr. Pham Thai Son said that to bring products to the world, NTQ always asks the questions: How to deploy the service? What people are needed? What investment is needed? What standards? What means are needed?
"We develop software service production centers, based internationally on the Global Development Center model. In the early days, NTQ sold products using the "bait" model," said Mr. Son.
According to Mr. Son, Vietnam is the "bait" market for services, Vietnamese businesses can expand the market. In addition to the bait strategy, NTQ also has three other strategies such as: 4P Partner - developing business partners; M&A - merging businesses with core competencies; Global Citizens - bringing international quality standards.
Thanks to this strategy, NTQ currently has 1,300 global employees, cooperates with over 300 customers, and is present in 20 countries and territories .
