Due to old age and poor health, Major General Dang Quoc Bao passed away at 9:02 a.m. on September 15 (ie August 13, Giap Thin year), at the age of 97. The funeral service for Major General Dang Quoc Bao will be held at 7:00 a.m. on September 18 at the National Funeral Home; the memorial service and funeral procession will be held at 8:30 a.m. on September 18. Major General Dang Quoc Bao (1927 – 2024). He was a member of the 4th Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Science and Education Commission (now the Central Propaganda Commission), and First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.
He joined the revolution in May 1945 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in the same year. In February 1947, he joined the army and was assigned to the Military Political School, Head of the Political Department of Regiment 140.
During his nearly 30 years in the military, Mr. Dang Quoc Bao held many different positions. In 1974, he was promoted to the rank of Major General.
In 1976, Mr. Dang Quoc Bao transferred to the civil service and held the position of Deputy Minister of Universities and Vocational Secondary Schools.
At the 4th Party Congress (1976), he was elected a member of the Party Central Committee. In 1978, he was elected First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.
In 1982, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Central Committee's Science and Education Department. In 1987, he was appointed Head of the Central Committee's Science and Education Department. He retired in 1991.
Major General Dang Quoc Bao was awarded many medals by the Party and State such as Ho Chi Minh Medal; First-class Independence Medal; Military Exploit Medal (first, second, third classes); First-class Resistance Medal.
