National Day holiday 2-9: Rich tour routes, many new experiences

Less than a week to go until the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2. This is considered a "clean" vacation for many families and groups of guests, before students officially return to school. According to information from travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City, at this time, the tour occupancy rate is over 90%. Some domestic tours and tours to Southeast Asian countries are still accepting guests.

Quick statistics from Saigontourist and Vietravel show that the upcoming holiday tours are almost full. This year, the companies have created diverse tour products, renewing familiar tours such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Sapa, Moc Chau, Con Dao, etc.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Marketing and Communications Director of Saigontourist Travel, assessed that the autumn tour products for the elderly and tours for overseas Vietnamese tourists returning to their hometowns have received special attention from tourists. For example, the Bao Loc – Doi Dep Tea Resort and Binh Chau – Mineral Hot Spring vacations are chosen by many tourists.

This year, Saigontourist Travel continues to cooperate with Vietnam Airlines to launch preferential combo products, exploiting domestic tourist destinations (including Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Phu Yen, departing from Ho Chi Minh City) to increase competitiveness, promote domestic tourism development according to a long-term, sustainable strategy.

On this occasion, Vietluxtour Travel also promotes the exploitation of the market share of individual customers and office workers with tours designed on demand, focusing on the needs of mid- to high-end resorts, especially the beach resorts of Nha Trang, Phu Yen, Hue - Da Nang, Con Dao...

Mr. Tran The Dung, General Director of Vietluxtour Travel, acknowledged that since the Covid-19 pandemic, the seasonality in tourism has decreased significantly. Both group and individual tourist markets tend to distribute travel plans evenly throughout the year. Typically, in previous years, from August to November was considered the low season in the tourism industry, but in recent years, this time has been an ideal opportunity to plan a trip. Because the service is not overloaded, the price is good, the climate is cool and fresh, and the natural landscape in autumn at some destinations is very beautiful.

“We expect the number of visitors in the domestic market, the market for sending visitors abroad for the September 2nd holiday and this fall to increase by about 20% compared to the same period last year. Particularly for the international tourist market to Vietnam, Vietluxtour has prepared a business plan for the peak season at the end of the year, focusing on the main target markets of Europe, the US, Australia, Japan, Korea... with the expected target of increasing by about 30% compared to the same period last year,” said Mr. Tran The Dung.

“Going abroad” is still the main trend

Ms. Huynh Phan Phuong Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietravel Tourism Company, said that the rate of booking foreign tours during the National Day holiday on September 2 this year accounts for more than 90% of the total number of tours. In fact, due to the high price of domestic airfares and the desire for a less crowded holiday, many tourists choose to travel abroad, in which the most interested destinations are Thailand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, etc.

Vietnam Airlines representative informed that from August 30 to September 4, the airline will operate nearly 2,500 flights, equivalent to 500,000 seats, including 330,000 seats on domestic routes, an increase of 20% over the same period last year.

The airline increased the frequency of flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Da Lat, Cam Ranh; between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, Phu Quoc...; and international flights from Vietnam to India, China, Thailand, Australia to meet the strong demand during the peak holiday season.

According to a number of travel agencies such as BenThanh Tourist, Viet Travel Company, Saco Travel, etc., the number of customers booking "outbound" tours during this time is still increasing sharply compared to domestic tours. Newly developed Southeast Asian tours such as Cambodia, Laos, etc., are also starting to attract customers because these routes do not have too long a tour time (4-5 days), the tour price is at an average level, especially autumn is the ideal time to explore these destinations, because of the cool weather and beautiful scenery.

During this holiday, BenThanh Tourist mainly focuses on tours with medium or short itineraries such as tours to Northeast Asian countries (Korea, Japan, etc.), Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia. In addition, the company also schedules long-term tours to serve groups of customers with flexible time, especially Northern Europe tours.

Ms. Tran Phuong Linh, Marketing Director - Information Technology of BenThanh Tourist, said that tourists tend to choose foreign tours. The main reason is the need to seek novelty and unique experiences from international destinations.

Second, the quality of service on foreign tours is often rated higher, with clear differences in service, experience content and attractions, making tourists feel it is worth it, even though the cost may be higher. Finally, domestic tour prices are still quite high and customers often have a comparison mentality, leading many people to choose foreign tours when they see the difference in value.
