Dien Bien Phu City has seen a surge in visitors these days, causing hotels and motels to be fully booked. The city's residents are ready to join hands with the province to provide accommodation for tourists when they return to attend the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 and celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
It is estimated that the number of tourists coming to Dien Bien has increased by 200-300% compared to the same period in previous years. Statistics up to April 9 of Dien Bien province show that the whole province welcomed over 440,000 tourists.
To meet the needs of tourists coming to Dien Bien, the province has implemented a plan to increase the capacity of accommodation facilities and at the same time mobilize resources from the people.
Specifically, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has made a list of more than 100 households eligible to participate in providing accommodation services to connect and support tourists who are having difficulty finding accommodation when coming to Dien Bien.
Mrs. Pham Thi Hoi and her son in group 5, Muong Thanh ward are quite busy these days preparing rooms to welcome tourists to share the accommodation pressure with the province.
Ms. Hoi said she regularly visits the city’s accommodation support groups to exchange information with households. If any household has a vacant room, she will notify guests so they can grasp the situation and divide the group appropriately.
To serve guests attentively, Mrs. Hoi’s family installed air conditioning, beds and mattresses in the rooms. She also washed the bedding and put it in a plastic bag at the head of the bed so that guests could use it when they arrived.
Ms. Hoi added that she will not charge guests for accommodation services, but will let guests share the costs of electricity, water and cleaning.
Mr. Hoang (Mrs. Hoi's son) has also prepared a 2-storey house for tourists to use.
Ms. Lo Thi Dung, a resident of Pung Tom village (Dien Bien Phu city) on the list of more than 100 households eligible to receive guests in Dien Bien province, shared that preparations to welcome guests have been basically completed. She is having workers build more toilets to serve the needs of tourists.
In addition to preparing accommodation, Ms. Dung also plans for tourists to experience the culture of the Thai people, and prepares menus for guests who need on-site dining services.
It is known that Pung Tom village has about 10 households with the same model as Ms. Dung, ready to welcome guests.

Not only mobilizing households, many hotels in Dien Bien Phu are also renovating and arranging more rooms to meet the sudden increase in the number of tourists.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy, manager of a hotel in the city, said that the company has renovated halls and community houses into standard accommodation areas and will not increase room rates during the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 and the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
