A delegation from the National University of Singapore (NUS) recently had a working session and signed a memorandum of understanding with Ho Chi Minh City National University on cooperation in training and scientific research.
Accordingly, the two universities agreed to implement the following contents: creating learning opportunities for students through developing new training cooperation methods; exchanging research and development cooperation capabilities in areas of common interest; exchanging scientific, academic, technical information and academic materials, technology commercialization opportunities; organizing and participating in joint academic and scientific activities such as seminars and conferences.
At the meeting, Professor Aaron Thean, Vice President of NUS, proposed that Ho Chi Minh City National University and NUS cooperate to implement an integrated bachelor's - master's - doctoral training program according to the 3+1+4 model. Accordingly, students who complete 1 year of study at NUS after studying the first 3 years of the bachelor's program at training facilities of Ho Chi Minh City National University will be awarded a bachelor's degree from Ho Chi Minh City National University and a master's degree from NUS. Students with good academic performance at the bachelor's - master's level will be granted a scholarship by NUS to study a doctoral program at NUS for the next 4 years. The entire journey from bachelor's to completing a doctorate is 8 years.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, supported NUS's cooperation proposal and suggested that the two sides prioritize the implementation of integrated training program cooperation in key training areas for the 2021-2030 period of Ho Chi Minh City National University, including: semiconductor microchips, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and biomedicine.
In addition, the two sides also agreed to develop research cooperation, exchange lecturers, build and implement training programs, and foster leadership for Ho Chi Minh City and other localities.
