Duy Tan University presents gifts to soldiers of Brigade 146
The visit and gift-giving to soldiers in Naval Region 4 on December 19, 2023 was a follow-up trip to the visit at the end of last year, on December 11, 2022, by a delegation of officers, lecturers and students of Duy Tan University. During this meaningful trip, Meritorious Teacher, Hero of Labor Le Cong Co - Chairman of the Duy Tan University Council had an emotional conversation with the soldiers of Brigade 146.
Meritorious Teacher Le Cong Co shared: "We are living in a free and peaceful country like today, thanks to the enormous sacrifices of revolutionary soldiers during the war and many soldiers who are undertaking tasks of protecting the Fatherland on the front lines, including soldiers of Brigade 146, Naval Region 4. With their sacred mission, the soldiers have overcome many hardships, sacrificing their own joy when they have to be away from their families, neighbors, and lovers to preserve the peace of the sea and islands, of the Fatherland. I believe that the young generation who are following and protecting the sea and islands today will forever be patriotic heroes, respected and loved by the people. The staff, lecturers and students of Duy Tan University are always deeply grateful for the contributions and sacrifices of the soldiers in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, and at the same time hope to strengthen the military-civilian relationship even more through these meetings ."
Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, Rector of Duy Tan University and Lieutenant Colonel Do Hai Dang, Deputy Political Commissar of Brigade 146 signed a memorandum of understanding.
With affection for the homeland's sea and islands, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the traditional New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the leaders of Duy Tan University directly presented gifts to representatives of 33 island locations in the Truong Sa Archipelago with a total gift value of 163,922,400 VND. In addition, Duy Tan University presented 5 desktop computers to the Political Department (Command of Naval Region 4) and 20 desktop computers to Brigade 146.
Colonel Nguyen Huu Minh, Standing Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 4, said: "On behalf of the Command's leadership, I would like to thank the teachers of Duy Tan University for their warm feelings in exchanging and encouraging the soldiers of Brigade 146 in today's meeting and over the past years. In 2023, Naval Region 4 has carried out many important tasks in the volatile situation of the world, the region and especially the East Sea. However, the officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 always strive and persevere in the task of protecting the sacred Fatherland, responding to the expectations and wishes and sharing of the people, including the majority of officers, lecturers and students of the school."
Also on this occasion, Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, Rector of Duy Tan University and Lieutenant Colonel Do Hai Dang, Deputy Commissar of Brigade 146 signed a memorandum of understanding to coordinate many activities in the coming time. Accordingly, the two units will propagate and educate officers and soldiers of Brigade 146 and officers, civil servants and workers of Duy Tan University about the traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, the Navy, Naval Region 4, the heroic Brigade 146 (Truong Sa Brigade); the traditions of Duy Tan University; enhance patriotism, well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations of the unit.

The two units will also work closely together to effectively carry out activities to fight against signs of degradation in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; help and visit families of policy beneficiaries, students with difficult family circumstances, who strive to achieve excellent academic results; support means and funds to develop information, improve the material and spiritual life of soldiers and people of Truong Sa island district; carry out propaganda about the sea and islands, cultural exchanges, arts, physical education and sports to improve health.
Immediately after the meeting, Duy Tan University and the Brigade promoted the twinning activities between the two units. The twinning ceremony is expected to be held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Duy Tan University (November 11, 1994 - November 11, 2024). This is also a meaningful milestone to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
Over the years, Duy Tan University staff, lecturers and students have organized many practical activities towards the homeland's sea and islands, such as donating more than 200 million VND to officers and soldiers on duty in Truong Sa island district; launching a campaign to send text messages to support fishermen in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa by text message; organizing art programs introducing the best songs about the homeland's sea and islands;... With many practical activities, Duy Tan University was honored to receive the National Flag from officers and soldiers on duty in Phan Vinh Island - Truong Sa archipelago right at the Opening Ceremony of the 2018-2019 school year.
The visit and gift-giving of Duy Tan University to the soldiers of Brigade 146 has contributed significantly to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people, creating a deep bond between the young generation of students and the navy soldiers. This not only shows the love for the homeland and gratitude to the soldiers on the islands, but also creates conditions for students to better understand the duties of the soldiers and the responsibilities of citizens in building and defending the Fatherland.
