According to a survey, to prepare for the new iPhone 15 generation, many domestic mobile phone retailers proactively reduced prices on older generation iPhone models, but the reduction was not too much.

At FPT, the iPhone 14 series models have decreased insignificantly, only a few hundred thousand VND. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max with the lowest capacity of 128GB has only decreased by 800,000 VND, from 30 million VND to 29.2 million VND.

Meanwhile, at CellphoneS, the iPhone 14 series is reduced by 9% - 15%, depending on the type. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max 128GB is reduced to 26.09 million VND, the iPhone 14 Pro 128GB is reduced to 23.85 million VND.

Speaking to reporters of the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, representative of the CellphoneS store chain, said: The iPhone 14 Pro Max is currently priced at about 26 million VND, about 500,000 - 1 million VND lower than the iPhone 13 Pro Max at this time last year.

Although it is at the end of its life cycle, Mr. Huy believes that the iPhone 14 series models are unlikely to see further price reductions. Because this phone model has had two previous price reductions in April 2023 and June 2023, with a reduction of about 3 million VND, or more than 100 USD.

“According to Apple’s practice, a new product launched within 1 year, the deepest discount is only about 100 USD. Therefore, with the current price, the iPhone 14 series has almost hit rock bottom and is unlikely to decrease further,” said Mr. Huy.

According to CellphoneS's own statistics, the iPhone 14 series had the same consumption as the iPhone 13 series in the third quarter, which is the time to prepare for the launch of the new generation iPhone.

At this unit alone, the old generation iPhone lines increased slightly in terms of revenue because the current 11-12-13 product range has quite reasonable prices, especially the new iPhone 12 which is discounted by just over 13 million VND.

Meanwhile, according to GFK's summary report, in the first 7 months of the year, the number of smartphones sold decreased from 9.2 million units to 6.8 million units. In particular, the iPhone market share increased from 9.9% to 13.75%, equivalent to an increase of 910,000 units to 935,000 units.

“In the context of the market recording a decrease of 25-35%, iPhone sales show that this is still a product favored by users and the level of willingness to spend is also very high,” said Mr. Huy.
