The Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board has just reported to the Hanoi Department of Transport the inspection results of Vinh Tuy 1 Bridge and proposed repairs to ensure traffic safety.
Specifically, according to the Hanoi Transport Infrastructure Maintenance Board (Maintenance Board), Vinh Tuy Bridge was inaugurated and put into operation in 2009.
After 13 years of operation, the inspection results showed that some damage had appeared. The bridge beams had cracks. The bearings on the main spans of the bridge crossing the river had rusty steel bearings that had not been greased or painted. The abutments and the top walls had diagonal and vertical cracks.

Therefore, the Maintenance Board proposes to repair and treat concrete cracks on pillars and abutment walls to ensure the requirements on the allowable limit of crack width in a corrosive gas environment to protect against corrosion of construction structures.
Repair and replace rubber expansion joints and extend drainage pipes on Super T girder spans in the middle of the river to facilitate future maintenance work.
For the pot bearings, the Maintenance Board recommends repairing them with one of two options: Specifically, option 1 for rusted steel pot bearings that have not been greased with protective grease requires rust removal and repainting with a high-durability, multi-layer paint system or rust removal, repainting with anti-rust paint and then grease protection.
Option 2, for greased bearings, it is recommended to check the protective grease layer to avoid the grease layer sticking to the sliding plate, affecting the sliding ability of the bearing's Teflon sheet.
On the bridge surface, it is recommended to scrape and re-carpet the spans that have signs of rutting and unevenness on the bridge.
