Many teachers believe that the benchmark will still be a matter of concern for this year's exam. Although there are no major changes, there are some differences this year compared to last year. Specifically, this year's 9th graders will study in person the entire time instead of having to study online like last year, so the quality of students taking the exam this year may be higher. In addition, this year's quota for public high schools is lower than in recent years, and the "competition" rate is too high in some schools considered "lower" which can also affect the benchmark.

Essay topic "NOT DECLARATE WAR ON TEXT MODELS"
In the 2022-2023 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training held a conference and issued a document to "declare war" on model essays. What the public is most concerned about is what the literature exam questions in important exams set by the Ministry and the Departments of Education and Training will be like. However, the essay questions in the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi that just ended are still alarmingly familiar. Most teachers have the same comment: the structure of the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi this year is the same as every year with a test time of 120 minutes, candidates are required to answer short questions and write 2 paragraphs. Literature and Vietnamese knowledge closely follows the 9th grade literature program.
Ms. Pham Thai Le, a teacher in Hanoi, who every year "diligently" speaks out with concern about the overly formulaic way of writing literature exam questions in the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi, this year shared that she has been waiting for the "response" of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training in changing the way of writing questions to encourage innovation and creativity. However, this year's exam questions, although a little more open in the social discussion section, still have a familiar structure and the examiners still have to count the ideas to score. "For students who have reviewed by closely following the works in textbooks and the way Hanoi has written questions in previous years, this year's exam questions continue to be a safe way of doing things, without debate, but if it continues like this, we don't know when we will be able to "declare war" on model essays."

Ms. Ha Thi Thu Thuy, a teacher at Einstein High School (Hanoi), also commented: the literary works mentioned in the exam are familiar, the questions are also basic, there are not many opportunities for students with literary ability to develop their creativity. The essay questions are too safe and basic like this, which is a bit disadvantageous for students with good ability; it does not encourage teachers to innovate and students to be creative.
Ms. Hoang Tue Minh, Head of the Literature Group at Giang Vo Secondary School (Hanoi), also shared with the press that this year's exam did not clearly show the specialized abilities of the subject, so it was difficult to assess the individual abilities of students. This year's exam structure was very typical, without many changes and was a popular type of question. In particular, the literary argument fell on stories, candidates will be very confident because in the past 6 years, they have not tested on the characteristics of the story genre. The exam can be considered to hit the focus of the schools. According to this teacher, the reading comprehension questions did not make it difficult for students, but the questions related to perception were not many, the given material was familiar so students could do it easily.
In general, teachers all believe that with a stable exam structure and relatively basic questions, candidates can easily complete the literature exam within the prescribed time. The average score is expected to be not low, possibly from 7 to 8 points.
Which subject will have more 10 points?
Regarding math and English, teachers also said that there was basically no change compared to previous years. This is a favorable factor for the review of candidates taking the entrance exam. According to the math teacher group of Hocmai Education System, the average score of candidates in math is expected to fall between 6 and 7 points.
Exam marking starts from June 12, results announced on July 4
Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that immediately after the candidates completed the math exam, the last subject of the 10th grade entrance exam, the department directed 201 testing locations to urgently complete the collection of papers and related documents, and organize the handover to the exam board and grading board according to the prescribed schedule.
From the afternoon of June 11, the multiple-choice test scoring board prepared computers, installed software, and reviewed all conditions for organizing the test scoring to ensure security, safety, and confidentiality in accordance with regulations.
From June 12, the organization of the exam marking began. According to the plan, the marking period will last until June 25. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training mobilized about 2,100 teachers from secondary and high schools to mark the exam this year.
It is expected that by July 4 at the latest, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores of candidates on the department's electronic information portal (https://www.hanoi.edu.vn).
Based on the assigned grade 10 enrollment quota, score distribution and expected admission scores provided by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, public high schools in the city will propose admission scores for grade 10 in the 2023-2024 school year. The Department will approve the grade 10 admission scores for each school and publicly announce them. The announcement of admission scores for specialized and non-specialized public grade 10 is expected to be from July 8 to 9. To be admitted to non-specialized public grade 10 high schools, candidates must take all 3 math, literature and foreign language exams, not violate regulations and have no score of 0 in any exam. The admission score is the sum of the literature and math scores multiplied by a factor of two, plus the foreign language score (coefficient of 1) and priority points (if any).
Ms. Pham Ha Loan, a math teacher at Dong Da Secondary School, assessed that this year's exam structure has not changed compared to recent years. The content of the exam is mainly in the 9th grade math program, does not surprise students and has a higher differentiation than the previous school year. In addition, according to Ms. Loan, compared to the previous school year's exam, this year's exam is somewhat "slightly" more difficult in questions III.2, IV.3 and V, which are classified questions with a score of 8 or higher. Specifically, average students can score from 5 to 6.5 if they completely complete exercises I, II, III.1 and IV.1. Good students can score 7 to 8 if they do well in questions III.2 and IV.2. Excellent students can score 8.5 or higher. A score above 9 requires students to not only study hard but also have good advanced thinking.
The joy on the parents' faces when they heard that their son had just completed the math exam well on the morning of June 11 at the exam site of Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted (Ha Dong District, Hanoi).
Overall, teachers said that students who are quite good and do their work carefully can easily get 9 points or more. The number of 9 points this year will also be higher than previous years. The peak of the score spectrum will be concentrated at around 7.5.
Regarding English, teachers from secondary schools such as Marie Curie, Thanh Cong (Ba Dinh District), Thai Thinh (Dong Da District), Hocmai Education System... all said that with such a way of setting questions, the common score could be around 6.5 - 7 points. A score of 9 may be high, but to achieve a score of 10, one needs to have good extensive knowledge. Foreign language is expected to continue to be the subject with the most 10 points compared to the other two subjects. This is no different from previous years. Last year, out of 107,000 candidates taking the 10th grade exam in Hanoi, more than 1,380 candidates scored 9 points or higher in literature (accounting for 1.29%), 256 students scored 10 points in math (accounting for 0.23%) and 3,364 students (3%) scored 10 points in foreign language.
