To give the poor a home

Mr. Tran Van Chinh’s family is one of the near-poor households in Lien Truong commune (Quang Trach). Due to economic difficulties, his family has had to live in an old, dilapidated house for a long time. Sharing the difficulties of his family, the local government and other units supported XNT-NDN last February.

At the groundbreaking ceremony of the XNT-NDN for Mr. Tran Van Chinh's family, in addition to the local government and supporting units in the province, representatives of the leaders of the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of Quang Trach district attended and provided cash support to help Mr. Chinh complete the new, more spacious and solid house.

Mr. Chinh shared: His family is a near-poor household. The old house built 40 years ago is now dilapidated and unsafe during the rainy and stormy season. Although he is the breadwinner of the family, he is often sick and his children are still young, so the dream of a new, spacious and sturdy house is very difficult. With partial financial support from the district's Social Policy Bank and other charitable organizations, his family now has the opportunity to rebuild their house.

Many people in difficult circumstances are supported by the Social Policy Bank with funding to demolish temporary and dilapidated houses.

In addition to Mr. Tran Van Chinh's household, the People's Credit Fund of Quang Trach district also supported unemployment insurance for 2 families in Canh Duong and Phu Canh communes.

Ms. Tran Thu Nga, Deputy Director of the Transaction Office of the People's Credit Fund of Quang Trach District, said: Implementing the policy of poverty reduction and poverty alleviation for poor and near-poor households launched by the Government, with the guidance of the People's Credit Fund - Quang Binh Branch, the Transaction Office of the People's Credit Fund of the district has coordinated with local authorities to promptly review poor and near-poor households on the poverty reduction and poverty alleviation list to have support plans. Since the beginning of the year, the Transaction Office of the People's Credit Fund of the district has supported part of the funding for 3 households in difficult circumstances in the district so that they have the opportunity to build new houses. In addition, the Transaction Office of the People's Credit Fund of the district has also reviewed and provided 4 poor and near-poor households on the poverty reduction and poverty alleviation list to access loans for the rural clean water and environmental sanitation package, with a total loan amount of 200 million VND. With preferential interest rates, this loan package aims to help them have more funding to build new, more comfortable and spacious houses.

The Social Policy Bank - Quang Binh Branch has supported the project of clean water and sanitation for 9 poor and near-poor households in the province with a total amount of nearly 100 million VND. On the other hand, it has created conditions for poor and near-poor households in the project of clean water and sanitation during the construction and repair period who need to borrow capital for the rural clean water and sanitation program to access preferential loan packages quickly and promptly. Since the beginning of the year, the Social Policy Bank - Quang Binh Branch has created conditions for more than 33 households to borrow with a total amount of more than 1.3 billion VND.

Along with Quang Trach district, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the transaction offices of the People's Credit Fund of districts and towns have simultaneously implemented support activities and evaluated loans for poor and near-poor households in the XNT-NDN category, thereby helping them have the opportunity to own a solid and spacious house to settle down and make a living.

Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies - Quang Binh Branch Tran Van Tai said: Responding to the Government's policy of supporting poor and near-poor households and Project No. 2453/DA-UBND, dated December 23, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on supporting poor and near-poor households, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies - Quang Binh Branch has directed the transaction offices of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies in districts and towns to coordinate with local authorities and organizations to review the list of poor and near-poor households to have a plan to support funding, and at the same time review the needs of households for loans to repair and build new houses to have a plan to allocate capital promptly.

For the program to have the best results, the People's Credit Fund - Quang Binh Branch has also launched a competition movement to promote disbursement of support programs for poor and near-poor households, creating a spreading motivation for collectives and individuals in the entire branch to respond, contributing to the completion of the province's project.

In order for many poor and near-poor households to receive support for poverty reduction and poverty alleviation, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies - Quang Binh Branch will continue to review and support poverty reduction and poverty alleviation for poor and near-poor households; at the same time, coordinate with the government, departments, branches, organizations, and savings and loan groups to review and promote disbursement of loan programs to support poor and near-poor households to eliminate poverty.
