This is a drastic measure to contribute to raising awareness of law compliance and ensuring safety for people when participating in traffic. After only a short time of implementation, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP has been quickly and seriously implemented by the people of the Land of Ancestors, contributing to raising awareness of civilized and safe traffic.

Traffic participants in Viet Tri city strictly obey traffic light signals.

Increase penalties, increase deterrence
Decree 168/2024/ND-CP increases administrative penalties for some traffic violations many times higher than Decree 100/2019/ND-CP issued on December 30, 2019, regulating administrative penalties for violations in the field of road and rail traffic. Specifically, car drivers who do not comply with traffic light signals will be fined from 18 to 20 million VND (according to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, they will be fined from 4 to 6 million VND); motorbike drivers will be fined from 800,000 VND to 1 million VND (according to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, they will be fined from 800,000 VND to 1 million VND).
Notably, the act of opening the car door or leaving the car door open, causing a traffic accident, will be fined from 20 to 22 million VND (according to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the fine is 400,000 - 600,000 VND); driving in the opposite direction, reversing, or making a U-turn on the highway will be fined from 30 to 40 million VND (according to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the fine is 10 to 18 million VND); the act of weaving, swerving, speeding, chasing each other on the road, or using the feet to control the steering wheel while the car is running will be fined from 40 to 50 million VND for cars (according to Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the fine is 10 to 12 million VND).
In addition, drivers will also have points deducted from their driving license for each violation, such as: Drivers who do not obey traffic lights or have alcohol levels will have their driving license deducted from 4 to 10 points; driving through a red light will have 4 points deducted from both car and motorbike drivers' driving licenses; if they cause a traffic accident, 10 points will be deducted...
According to our records, at traffic light stops, drivers proactively stop their vehicles according to regulations. Common violations such as: Not obeying traffic light signals, speeding, turning around, reversing, going in the wrong direction, weaving, swerving, reckless overtaking... have been greatly reduced.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duy in Thanh Mieu Ward, Viet Tri City said: Previously, during rush hour, vehicles often encroached on lanes, did not obey traffic lights, causing chaos and traffic jams, so the police had a hard time regulating traffic. However, after Decree 168/2024/ND-CP took effect, this situation has decreased significantly. Traffic participants comply with regulations more seriously, contributing to significantly improving traffic order, especially at intersections.
Supporting the fines stipulated in Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh in Tien Cat ward, Viet Tri city said: Implementing Decree 168/2024/ND-CP not only helps people increase their awareness of law compliance but also has a high educational value, people raise their awareness when traveling, and must follow the law. I hope that the authorities will continue to promote propaganda and strictly implement inspections and handle violations, contributing to building a civilized society.

Strengthening processing and combining propaganda
Implementing the direction of the leaders of the Traffic Police Department and the leaders of the Provincial Police, starting from January 1, 2025, the Traffic Police force of the whole province has simultaneously increased patrols and controls, ensuring traffic safety and order, and stepped up propaganda to traffic participants about increasing penalties for some violations of road traffic safety and order, belonging to the group of intentional violations, which are the main causes of traffic accidents of vehicle drivers... Along with patrolling and controlling on the roads, the Traffic Police force also combines the use of professional equipment to promptly detect and strictly handle violations of using phones while driving, handing over vehicles to unqualified drivers...
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Quoc Viet - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial Police Director, we have proactively studied the new points of the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order 2024, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP and simultaneously launched patrols and road control from 6:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025. Thereby, the Traffic Police force has detected and handled many violations of both cars and motorbikes such as alcohol, red lights, line crossings... In addition to strictly punishing violations, we also propagate the new regulations of the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order 2024 and Decree 168/2024/ND-CP so that people can clearly understand and raise awareness of compliance when participating in traffic, ensuring safety, life and property for traffic participants.
Regarding the deduction of points on a driver's license, after deducting points, the Traffic Police Department will notify the violator and the driver's license management agency to coordinate the implementation. When all points are deducted, the Traffic Police Department will conduct a test on the knowledge of road traffic law and order within the prescribed time limit to ensure that the violator has been handled and is eligible to restore the points on the driver's license - Lieutenant Colonel Phan Quoc Viet added.
In addition, press agencies in the province also promote the dissemination of news and articles related to the 2024 Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order and Decree 168/2024/ND-CP so that people can grasp the regulations before being fined...

Traffic police force resolutely and strictly handle cases of students violating traffic safety order.

It can be seen that the increased fines and the activeness of the authorities have directly impacted the traffic awareness of the majority of people across the country in general and in Phu Tho in particular. Punishing a group of violators has created a deterrent, thereby spreading the spirit of respect for the law in society. Thereby contributing to raising people's awareness of obeying traffic laws, aiming at the ultimate benefit for the safety of the people.
